I bought mine off Ebay Australia, with the seller telling me they were for a hatch, but were actually for a sedan (they have a different rear door thats curved on the corner, not cut off like the hatch)... anyways have you tried ebay US? These might interest you, but unsure if the seller will ship to Australia though

Honestly, I cant really answer that question in full detail, as I bought my car already lowered, but can confirm with the changing of springs, it really depends on the spring itself. Pedders & King springs are about the cheapest you can get, you do lose a little comfort in compensation for a bit of firmness, your best bet is to add a bigger rear swaybar to really to get the most out of it... But in saying that, jumping from my car to my fiance's laser, its like being in two different cars!
