correct! series 3 had H1s in both beams and the glass was remodelled for better refraction and dispersation. aka visiablity

Standard wattage is 55W

100s *might* melt the plastics inside the lights. Your risk.

You could always go for some Narva +30s which are a decent amount brighter that standard bulbs

yeah my mate had his plastics melt in his liberty cos he did that..

ok i got a 97 hardtop, so ill need 2 H1's and 2 H3's.. sweet! thanks guys :)

and parkers.. are they different again? i remember someone telling me that parking lights are just some slot in/out globes? didnt sound right to me personally.. but i wouldnt know..

Rupewrecht 03-07-2006 10:26 PM

Yep, the parkers are just 5W bayonet bulbs. They look the same as taillight bulbs but only have one filament + one contact on the bottom.

Red Frog 04-07-2006 12:43 AM

for reference the BJs and assumingly SP20s: high beam + low beam (all in 1 globe) are H4 (get the 50% more light w/ the xenon gas which produces a whiter light) and parkers are W5W.

please check to confirm u actually need 2 x h1 and 2 x h3, as toyboy posted that the series 3 ba the headlights were changed to 4 x h1s

yeah dan is right the parkers are BA5w, however this is not a common size for parkers, as the orginal globe/socket for the parkers were actually indicators for the JDM market.

project.r.racing 04-07-2006 05:17 PM

ba hatch series 3 has 4 x H1s
ba hardtop has 2 x H1 + 2x H3 i think

yes that is true on paper, what i ment when i said confirm was to actually look at the headlight and see what is printed on it.

project.r.racing 04-07-2006 05:51 PM

i have a series 3 hatch and i have looked many times - 4 x H1s

Tom 11-07-2006 10:30 AM

Ok i just replaced them..

bulbs needed:
2x H1's
2x H3's

All i have to do now is realign them properly, as they are pointing too far down and too far to the left..

Tom 14-07-2006 09:30 PM

hmm i went to replace the parkers.. and they said R5W on them... i went and looked it up in ebay to see if i could get any replacements, and they say all these other things on the sites like R5W-207, BA15s base, etc etc..

I was hopin for a replacement soon, as one of my parkers was dead..

confuses me :(

anyone help me out plz?

and im hoping for a blue coloured light/globe that would fit there if anyone knows of any!

I just replaced the numberplate lights and roof lights with nice lil w5w extra blue/white lights :) nice and clear and bright too!

Hey guys, i know this is an old topic, but i was looking to replace my headlights with the Xenon (i think thats what they are, the bright white ones) lights. I've got a BA Hatch '98, does anybody know what globe size thingy they need to be? H1, h2, h3 etc.. lol I tried reading the above posts to answer myself, but its just confused me even more..
thanks! :D

ZoomZoom 17-11-2006 11:52 AM

here's a tip ....

DON'T BUY THE BLUE TINTED BULBS!

Bloody dangerous! Almost had an accident in my 96 BA cause I couldn't see the road properly. Pulled them out the next day and took them back! Go the 30+

have a look at the top of your lights - that's the easiest way.

Please help

hi guys i'm new here... very noob with astina stuff

I've got a 94 Hatch Astina... just bought it not long ago... is it much different taking off the globes compared to the hardtop (i've seen the thread showing me how to do it) and... from your knowledge... What globes do i need to replace the low beams with? H1? or H3? for my car. How do i find out wat series it is?

One more question... a bit off topic tho... where do i put the brake fluid in... because my BRAKE alert is on and i think its running low on break fluid.

Thanks for your time guys...

DavoAust 17-06-2008 12:36 PM

brake fluid is at the back of the engine bay, drivers side from memory, black cap. it'll have brake fluid on the cap (clutch too if its a manual)

i think the hatch has H3 bulbs for lows from memory. check the lights themselves for confirmation (or pull one out and take it in with you, don't touch the glass though!)

Cosmo Dude 17-06-2008 12:40 PM

If your brake warning light is on then first check the brake pads are not worn down. Changing them will force fluid back into the reservoir fixing the light.

Anyone know what's the bulb sizes for BA11P1 - June 1994 hatch.
