Rupe older car - hidden kills switch is the best.

Yeah, that's the plan.
In other news, this happened. JUN Auto lightweight flywheel for the KF engine. 4.5kg vs 7.9kg, and cheaper than a Fidanza after shipping. - plus Japanese quality. http://www.junauto.co.jp/gallery/dri...lywheel_b6.jpg Not actual pic - that's a B6 one above. These are getting tempting, too - a set of the cheap MX6 stainless manifolds, even if the loop needs shortening. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390459401175 Really should sort out a new clutch and some new engine mounts first though lol |
Rupe I have set of extractors under my house still if you interest PM me. same **** ones I was going to use on my KF

So, things that have been acquired lately.
- Mazdaspeed catback exhaust - eBay stainless headers - new (used) leather gearshift boot Things i've done - painted the roof black - had the aircon regassed. Probably happiest about the aircon - it actually works! No leaks by the look of it, but the compressor has a bit of vane chatter so i'll need to (eventually) get another one. I'm impressed the system works at all after almost 300thou kms! A few other plans in process, too...but they're on the backburner until a few things fall into place. |
the A/C might just run on min oil/die. I put on late R134a unit had done 260,000k's when I got it - only issue has been the clutch- removed two spacers and it goes hard. Min noise too.
You got the extractors Okay it seems. so black on grey? Would of thought black on the P-rose would be better still interesting just roof or pillars too ? |
Well, they couldn't find any leaks when thy tested the system. It's got lube and dye in it, so we'll see in 3 months when it gets a free checkup.
And yeah, got the exhaust. Curiously, as well as the rear loop needing to be shortened, the actual length of the piping is about two inches too long. The MX-6 must have a different wheelbase/cat placement. Not that that isn't easy to mod though. The black roof has made me realise that the passion rose one will be staying one color, too - it doesn't really do it for me as much as i thought it would. And yeah, just black roof centre, not the pillars. |
Well yeah on the later model units they eat Compressors. Or should I say because owners treat cars like **** and do little for the A/c like sit it during winter and then all the oil leaks out at the comp. People damage them. I know if you use them for like everyday as we did in out 626 the R12 lasted 7-9years. Until Tx shat. Full conversion to R134A with correct filters and changes. As mazda had to between the 1992-and 1993 models. It cost a fortune in 2000. but lasted another 7 years never re-gassed never touched but used everyday. maybe it was the magic ECON switch LOL
the exhausts are different but only on the KL-. Remember KL's had two setups early single Cat under shifter on a GE ? and a post 1996 I think it is or 1995. 3 cat system. Which we only saw on the ODD KL powered Eunos 800. I saw it and it had 3 02 sensors. The late Ge still had 3 02 sensors but only 1 cat. You would know more so but I know early KF's have 2 cats on the manifolds and latter had the 3 but I have never confirmed the 3rd was fitted. I can only guess if Mazda never fitted the two close to the engine they might have sold more or created MS extractors for the KF unit. I know making them hollow create fire at the bum on a BA on straight through system Considering the KF was the most common engine sold in Japan with the GE's I could only guess they would be same power unit assembly and the rest pacific to the car. It's how most have been design there cars for the assembly line. Meme serves me it's all attached to the block and not any part of the car until the tunnel or cross frame. Exhaust that is. Unlike previous models where it would of come on afterwards. |
top up some compressor oil, it may fix the noise issue and the compressor might live :)
|
Oil was replaced as necessary as well. It was suggested to use a heavier weight oil, but it dramatically shortens the life of the compressor, apparentl.y
|
it does if it sits. or not used.
Most places won't carry it only A/C specialist and they normally apply too- Airport vans Buses and Taxi's oh and hire cars |
don't use heavier oil... use the correct type
I'm pretty sure it uses ISO 46 viscosity |
New steering wheel. Off an FD RX-7 Efini. Usually has a cruise control module out the RHS, but i took that out as it's useless to me.
Smaller by about 10mm, and a nice upgrade to leather/perforated leather. Pretty unusual wheel - you don't often see these at all as most FDs have the 3-spoke airbag Nardi or the Efini 3-spoke non-airbag wheel. And also a Mazdaspeed CF/Alu short gearknob and gaiter bung. I've never used one of these despite probably 20 of them passing through my hands, so thought i'd give one a try. http://rupewrecht.com/astinafour/efiniwheel.jpg |
One day i'll get you to handle a knob for me eh':D
|
So with the AZ-1 turning up, this will be redundant in the near future.
Not sure if i'll be parting it out or selling as-is. Still got a few goodies that never made it onto the car - like the JUN flywheel and the Tein springs. |
....and it's gone.
Went to Jesse as a parts donor. Took a few bits off it before it went, though. Glad it's gone, tbh. Hated it. Was horrible to drive! |
One thing I don't like with the BA is the low steering wheel.
|
Nah, it was that the engine mounts and swaybar bushes in the front were ****ed! That, and the amount of smoke it blew - even running 40W-70 oil LOL
|
I like what Jesse did with those parts :)
