Laser BPT, GTX and GTR differences

Alrite chaps.. The differences between the laser BPT GTX and GTR motors are what exactly? I'm havin a toss up between the Turbo laser motor and GTX for an early next year conversion. Money is an issue and i just want a bit more zip. Im not sure whether the GTX and Laser turbo motors are the same thing and im just curious about the GTR. I'm pretty confident that u guys will know what im on about.

Regards
Will

P.S. Where can i pick up a turbo laser front cut anyway im havin a hard time finding a place that sells them (GTX's and GTR's arent too hard to spot)

The GTX engine is basicly the same as the TX3 Turbo. The extra power is derived from the ECU. Yes a TX3 Turbo has the same potential as the BG GTX. Look for the BP-26 cast into the head above the thermistat housing.

GTR is the next level beyond the BP-26..... drool

GTR engine is known as a BPD, as opposed to GTX being BPT

GTR has sodium filled valves, semi forged pistons, oil squirters to the pistons, different head, bigger turbo as different from GTX (and probably a few other things i don't know)

TX3 BPT and GTX BPT are pretty much identical apart from the cam covers - one says Ford, the other says Mazda ;)

Check out the thread in this section regarding engine importers

Just to clear up on a few things the guys have said above....The motor in the LASER GTX and the FAMILIA GTX are EXACTLY the same. The motor in the LASER TX3 (aus spec) is aslo the same except there are a few differences in the wiring loom and the ECU was detuned.

GTR motor...well, there's alot of myths out there...like the head being different. lol The head shape iteslf is exactly the same, it just has different exhaust valves.

Here is a topic I have put together...I've spent a bit of time on this, and it will continue to grow. Please let me know what you think. Everything on this page is FACT. If it's not mentioned on there (eg web stregthend block) it's NOT true.

That is an awesome read. With Robs permission I reckon that should be copied and made a sticky on here.

I know I am sick of answering the same question over and over.
