in the process i found out that the brakes are fcukd and just above the wear limit so instead of machining them i get a new set of RDA slotted rotors for front and rear on thursday :)

Dogo 09-12-2008 08:24 AM

the old bomb Ive been driving while mine is off the road died. Now I have that to fix too :(

Just a power steering belt. Every 1cm there's a crack almost the whole way through ! The tensioner pulley on the PS belt I think has seized - its rusty and not moving even with the belt very loose.

just spent an hour and half in a carpark waiting/getting a new battery. damn thing was fine on the weekend cruise, got me to work this morning and to lunch and then promptly died in the arse.

astina_hardtop97 10-12-2008 03:47 PM

well mine got kissed by a corolla from head to toe...but least its insured
but now i have to get quotes and be without a car while its being fixed.
if i can get the cash i will pocket it and fix it myself...its jst cosmetic damage and a new fr guard and 2 doors will fix it.

The BB is STILL in the driveway. Don't even get started on that one !

mussing 11-12-2008 03:29 AM

Yay for Taragos. It's like you're driving a boat with wheels (my dad has one). And the shift throw is massive.

RHINO145 11-12-2008 10:06 AM

heh, first car i ever drove (well, after a hillman minx) was my dads tarago, i got used to it then tried out my mums old BG astina and wow, heh

I started sound deadening the car yesterday. So far I've done the rear right door, and the difference it makes is great! Knocking on the door doesn't sound tinny and resonant anymore, it just gives a 'tap', and closes with a nice thud. I might write up a thread when I get around to it.

The stuff I got to do it is professional sound matting from Electus (Jaycar's wholesaler) with an STC of 26, and only about $6 per roll, 1 roll per door (this stuff). The only downside is that it doesn't come with an adhesive side like dedicated car sound deadeners, so you have to apply adhesive. The contact adhesive spray that I got from electus was crap, didn't hold at all. I tried gelfix, which worked really well but took too long to get a grip. Then my dad suggested another adhesive which is administered by a glue gun (not hot), the kind that might be used for wooden flooring etc. It's fantastic, only have to hold it up for a minute and it's secure, and cures in 24 hours.

just found the source of a major annoying rattle today!

the hatch latch needed more force to fully close. it was closing before enough to hold the hatch down though. needs some lube spray & adjusting i think.

with that noise out, the next noisiest squeak is now more noticable..

I've always used Dynamat Extreme - its good stuff. Tar based, so no adhesive required.

picked up a new hydraulic garage jack on the weekend.

One of those nice big flat ones with the handle that you twist rather than the silly little valve.

I think repco had it marked at the wrong price, because the ppl behind the counter couldnt work out why it was so cheap.

FOX33N 15-12-2008 09:03 AM

I waxed My roof to the car, So Shinny now.. But got to tired to do the rest..lol!!
