BEST Size for BJII SP20

hey guys i got a 2002 astina sp20 in yellow and i was chasin some black rims for her... whats the best size for looks n performance wize on this small car..

16x8? 17x8?

and what fits???

Rupewrecht 10-11-2008 01:50 PM

+44 is the ideal offset for an 8 inch rim, but will need rolling of the guards

SP20's come stock with 16x6" rims, so you could prolly go with a 18x7.5" rims with a 45 offset, shouldnt rub from what I have heard...

for better performance go no bigger than an inch but go and inch wider than stock or even better performance same size but wider and inch for looks go whatever you want with rubber bands and scrubs

Does ride quality come into the equation? Keep in mind that the bigger the wheels, the smaller the tyres, and the sorer your arse.

arden 10-11-2008 07:39 PM

18x7 +45mm
18x7.5 +48mm

Chino 11-11-2008 10:39 AM

so 16 is better then 18 for performance?? **** with 16s u could almost got a 8.5inch rim yer?

70NYD 11-11-2008 01:09 PM

basically a smaller rim will be easier to spin by the wheel, it will give you better acceleration.
a bigger rim will take a little more effort to spin, but it will give you better economy if you are doing alot of freeway driving as there will be more energy in the wheel and it will take more of an effort from the drag of the ground to slow it down.
a wider tyre that is under power will give you a better power transfer to the road.
a wider tyre that is not under power will give you a greater drag from the road.
if your gonna drag have skinny unpowered tyres and fatter powered tyres
if your gonna circuit than have wider tyres all around just for grip around corners, cus top speed means nothing if you cant take a corner

apart from that probably some of the best wheels, IMO, would be the stock MX5 ones as they are REALLY light in comparison to a lot of other ones the same size

i hope that this sort of helps u out :)

+44 for the front aswell coz on that post the guy had +50's but had a 6mm spacer on the back

i dont know how 17x8s would go, id presume you would have guard clearance issues though as mine are 7.5s and they only just fit in the rear but needed rolled guards in the front..

I am running 17 x 7s using 215x40x17 on my 02 BJ11 SP20 no need to roll guards but mine isnt lowered either

SP20XX 20-11-2008 07:56 AM

I am running 17x7s using 215x45x17 on my 03 BJ11 SP20.
Car is not lowered (yet, got eibach pros awaiting install)
Rear scrubs at 60kms around bouncy corners.
Front scrubs at higher speeds or rougher terrain.
F+B scrubs at hard cornering, even at lower speeds.
Front's 45deg rolled. Rears not rolled at all, ie stock guards.

Chino 20-11-2008 06:53 PM

they scrub on the inside or the outside???

ur offset is probably too high??

heres a quote from another thread....

18x8, offset - 50mm with 215/35/18 tyres.
On the front they're fine, but the rear needs 6mm spacers and the arches need a slight trim.
So, with the 6mm spacers I effectively have a 44mm offset on the rear.
no scrub...

no if hes fit then a 17 with a 40mm height on the tyre should fit even easier...

im lookin at a set of gram lights 57pro 17x8 +48 for front and a 17x8 +45 for the rear and i own a gaurd rolling machine so ill just stretch the **** out of them lol

any thoughts?
