Immobilizer Troubles
Hey all, hoping someone can help me out or at least point me in the right direction. I have a 97 BA Hatch. My aftermarket immobilizer remote (already on car when purchased) has stopped working and I don't have a spare remote to deactivate it.
I cleaned the circuit board, nothing is loose and replaced the battery but still nothing. After a trip to mister minnit he explained that because I didn't have a working remote they couldn't make a copy of the signal, and so suggested jaycar or a mobile auto electrician to get a new system installed.. I'd like to know if it's a complicated process to just disconnect the immobilizer myself so I can drive the car ? Any advice would be much appreciated :) |
Usually it's something like 12 turns of the key to deactivate something like that, if I recall correctly. Its what I had to do with a BA I bought with no fobs, until i ripped it out.

I thought that was just a myth haha. Was it easy for u to take out?

Yeah, just had to track it all and rejoin anything that was spliced. It took a while, but wasn't too hard.
