97 323 astina sedans engine questions

hi guys and girls, i have just brought my first mazda as the title says a 97 323 ba astina sedan with a auto box in it.
it currently has the v6 engine in it thats a bit tired and could do with a rebuild but before i do that i am going to do the car up as there are no astinas around where i live done up.
i was wondering on everyones opionon on which way i should go firstly i will be changing to a manual but do i stick with the v6 and work that or if its possible i was thinking of changing to the 1.8 and add a turbo.

is it even possible to do a clean swap from the v6 to the 4 and what pit falls may i run in to along the way?
thanks in advance for any help pics to come soon.

Different computers, stuff like ABS and passengers airbags among other things. May be easier to buy one with a fresh 4cyl engine or get the import version of the 6...

the $3-4K that it will cost will far outweight the cost of selling the V6 auto and purchasing a I4 manual.

p.s. hello and welcome to AGT.

Welcome to AGT. :)

You'd be better off getting a 2.5L KL engine and dropping that in, and probably getting a manual front cut from a V6 to make sure you get all the bits for a manual conversion

There's quite a bit of difference between what's in the V6 and I4 engine bays, but having said that it is pretty much all bolt-on differences.
