Everythings cold, less lubricated, stiffer, and the human driving is also cold, add that to a high clamping force (has slightly different loading characteristics than a lower clamp but with a higher friction material, ie, worse characteristics...)... hence why i asked what strength clutch he had put in. most people nowadays put in a clutch that is too strong.

i wise mazda mechanic once told me, "it's cheaper to blow clutches that gearboxes." install a slightly less powerful one.
