Yup Gav your right. I set my timing out by one tooth one and the car wouldn't idle. IT would fire on the starter motor, but anything after that it would just die.

Adjusable cam gears are the only way to go if you want to adjust standard cams.

However, i spoke to my tuner about these and he said the only realy purpose for them with standard cams is to move the power curve further up or further down the rev range. EG, FWD turbo cars would want their power further up the rev range to reduce low down wheel spin.
