"warm and lively"... you mean over saturated and vivid? Nikons definitely looks more flat and washed out, however to me, the colours are more natural looking
it really depends on what kind of results you're after... for portraits, canons are great... for landscape, nikons do well
you can always adjust the color balance settings yourself of course, but there are still limitations of how much you can adjust
