1) Not sure if the 2001 is OBDII compliant. Not required in Oz until 2004/05 but imported cars could be due to O/S spec from earlier. Sometimes the plugs could be misleading.

2) True for Bluetooth to phone code reader. See below.

3) As for protocol I think the CAN Bus will be later models. More likely one of the older serial protocols at a guess.

2 cont'd) Best way is with TorquePro (~$5-10) on an Android device, Bluetooth linked to a Bluetooth 'dongle' (cheap copies are on EBay). If you want a good 'un it'll cost ~100+ but they do read faster apparently. Some cheapies have faults. I've been lucky with mine. TorquePro will autodetect the protocol.
