My main concern is that I want a camera mostly while traveling.

So I need a balance between something thats not too annoying to carry and still takes pics that do the memories justice.
The pics I took with my point-and-shoot in India are nice but still very flat - I'm never satisfied with the contrast you get from a small sensor and and depth of field is always soo flat.

This new camera is in preparation for 10 weeks trekking across South America. I'm thinking of taking my small point-and-shoot with me at all times in my pocket and the other camera when I have something particularly nice to shoot.

Maybe the small one in my pocket and the larger in my day pack, or on a strap around my neck.
