Manual Gearbox
Hi right now i'm trying to find a reco gearbox however i've been told by the wreckers that there are 2 different kinds for my model ( Astina Ba '95' 1.8 hatch).
They said the 2 types had either - a stud on top of the bolts or -bolts on top of the box The thing is I dont understand where abouts he is referring too. Could someone point me out to where I should be looking etc? Thanks =) |

There's a G series or F series gearbox in BAs - G was 94-95, F was 95-98.
There's a white sticker on the top of the box on the bellhousing that'll have FXXX or GXXX, or if that's not there then there is a casting mark just behind the clutch slave on the front/side of the box. Casting mark

no idea about the studs.
but check your vin number. if it start with JMOBA11P1, then you have a G series box. the end of it is brushed metal silver type colour. if it starts with JMOBAP2 or JMOBA11P3 (for others reading with other models) then you have a F series box. it has a black painted end instead. |

Alright i found out that I have a G series gearbox. Has anyone ever removed a G series gearbox from an BA astina (at home) I find removing the subframe would be hard so was wondering if anyone here has done it? I'm planning to change the thrust bearings, clutch, synchros (if needed) and any gears that are damaged etc
