Sad Farewell to All

Well, if you check the For Sale thread, you'll notice that my beloved Astina is up for sale.

I've upgraded to a brand new SP23 Hatch (Velocity Red), one of the last auto SP23 hatches in NSW. The only other one was white (uggh!).

I've had a ball on this site. You guys have helped me out with stupid questions and I really enjoyed my time on here. I'll still check it out every so often.

If you see a Velocity Red SP23 around, wave! It might be me!

Ciao
Shads (Gareth)

There's no need to disappear because you've changed cars, especially when it's still a Mazda bud. Stick around

Any reason why auto and not manual?

Anyway, there are plenty of non-mazda traitors floating around OMC - so even if you dont drive an astina, you are at least driving a mazda!

geeze i've never owned an astina and i lurk around here all the time (i drive a protege .. same diff but meh)

OK, I'll hang around. I'll see some of you at the wedding in September!

And the reason for the auto instead of manual... Couldn't be bothered mastering manual! I can drive manual, but prefer to be a bit lazy. Also, being in runout, selection was rather limited in respect to colour/transmission for the Sp's.

They did have a black sedan with the Leather/BOSE option in the showroom in manual I was thinking of negotiating on, but I don't want leather, only the BOSE option. Leather would be a bad idea as I use it for work so it's going to suffer a lot of wear and tear. My only three issues with the SP23 are:

* Covers for the front seats cost a bomb as they have airbags built into them.
* Reversing lights are crap
* The space saver tyre.

My dad found all these out when he got his, so I was aware of them. But the pro's far outweight the cons. Especially the lower fuel consumption than the Astina. I'm getting an average of 8.3 L/100 KM as opposed to 9.5 L/100 KM. And, it's got alot more power! Zoom Zoom! I would have liked to wait for the updated model, as it has a 5 speed auto box (or 6 speed manual) with paddle shift I believe. But I didn't like the styling (or the associated increase in price).

Mum has also just got herself another Mazda. A Mazda 2 Maxx. So in all, between four of us in the last 8 years, we've had about 8 mazdas! Almost all from the 323 range (4 x 323, 2 x SP23, 1 x 626, 1 x 2)! We should be getting frequent buyer points or something.

I just wish I had more time to check this site. But with my new job, I'm so flat out and busy I just don't have time. And when I get home, the last thing I want to do is sit in front of the PC for a couple of hours! Oh well, that's the way life goes.

Ciao
Shads!
