Best brands?
I've been reading all the information about mods on a budget but I now want to know what you guys (and girls) think the best brands are for all the following performance (and appearance) modifications...
Exaust Computer - Unichip? Cooling (air intake and filter) - K&N is obviously the most popular, but is it all it shapes up to be? Fuel pressure regulator Body kit Spark plug/leads Race clutch?

I concentrated on my crystal ball for 5 mins and still couldn't
mindread what sort of car you have. Makes a difference 2L to 1.8. Also a couple of questions as to how far you want to take your car and what you are expecting from the likes of a unichip and a race clutch. I will just throw some general stuff and hope it helps. 1. Exhaust 2 1/2 pressed bent is enough as the drop in size for the press bends will bring it down to about 2 1/4 which is a good size for performance/quiet and still have bottom end. Recomend a chambered not a straight through muffler as better for bottom end a little backpressure is good. 2. K&N panel filter.. There is a report I have pasted the link about 3-4 times of a comparison between most major brands for asian cars and the K&N came out on top over HKS, Blitz etc etc. 3. FPR either FSE or Malpassi, out of the 2 FSE. 4. Bodykit. Thats a personal thing only you can decide. 5. Leads.. Most have Top Gun as they are available 8.8mm for our cars for around $100... Only very small gain to be had by themselves its mostly an image thing. 6. Race clutch.. What sort of driving you expecting to do N/A. I recomend a Daiken full face organic with a 730kg pressure plate can be got from Autobarn for around $300 and is very light on the foot and has been fine with my turbo for years. I had to replace one 5 months ago due to a busted gearbox leaking oil on it and after 3 years had heaps of meat left. regards Mal

Sometimes the best brand is not the best buy...
ie Motec may make the 'best' ECU - but if Autronic are the only people who have fitted an ECU to your type of car then they're the one to have despite what may be a lower spec (This is a hypothetical example).. By the best PRODUCT for YOUR application not the best BRAND.... Sorry I read this post after reading about another guys 59 day odessy getting an afetrmarket ECU installed in his car... The joy though was that now that it's finally on the dyno he's making 190hp at the front wheels and they still have 2000rpm of tunign left to do. (they're building the maps in 500rpm blocks... Taking about 2 hours+ per block.... A.

Thanks for all your replies, they are awesome.
Does anyone know of any performance parts/accessories from other types of cars that would be compatible with a BG (early 90's model) Astina (SOHC probably)?
