How heavy are BPT engines?

I had to move mine to my new house today. Was a total biatch to lift. Used a trolley, the lifted it up onto a ute using chains between lift hooks. Damn heavy f@#kers!!!

How heavy are BPT engines? Mine does not have the intake manifold attached at the moment.

80kg is my hazard of a guess, i wouldn't be suprised if it was lighter though.

if it was that light, 2 adult males would be able to lift it.

i'd be guessing 120-160kg. but thats is a guess.

are you serious! you have to be kidding right! I've lifted my BPT by myself with my girlfriend helping me just as a guide... the illusion that makes it heavier is that they are awkward.

If you and another grown man couldn't lift it (minus intake manifold) then you need to Harden the **** up!

on a side note, the G series gearbox fwd is about 30kg and i'd say the 4wd one is around 40-50kg. So if the BPT you were lifting still had the 4wd gearbox on it i'd say 120kg yeah.

You're just a girly man. My spare G series gearbox is easy to throw around, I would be suprised if a BPT weighed more than 2~2.5X as much as it. I could easily lift 2 gearboxes.

Meh, so what if it is 120kg? Lift with the knees.

Challenge accepted! Have some "cleanhands" ready for me though.

And if I lift it, you will have to take me a for a mountain run. And if I don't lift it, you will have to take me for a mountain run.

Hahaha, chopper.

Yeah you are a girly man...myself and another bloke can lift a complete BPT engine and I only weigh in at 70kg. 3 blokes lifted my engine with a G series box still attached while still mounted onto the cross member.

2 guys can lift the back of KA laser and swing it around. me and a friend did it. An old school KA laser was parked paralel to the kerb like most cars are. We turned it into a 30 degree parking.

Looked really funny at the time, took a photo and laughed for a few minutes.

i can lift a short block into and out of my Astina's boot

If those figures ARE correct the engine is heavier than a v6

dave0r, when you say it took 3 of you to lift, its not so much the weight that is the problem, its the awkwardness...
