Wanted SP 20 auto

Hi all,
Any chance of a member selling a 2001-2003 Astina SP20 automatic?
It's for my son who has just attained his auto license only last week.

There's not all that many around so we thought we try the group here for a quick response. We are Melbourne based and a cash buyer.

Regards,
Rob Tait.

Hey, good idea buying an sp20, just one thing though, U know all the reviews said tick the manual box. Goes heaps better & mazda makes a great manual box so its hard to go past.

I know hes just got his auto licence (congrats), But i cant help but say he might get sick of the auto after a short period of time, being a young male and all! I would talk to him about more options such as upgrading his licence after a while. That may sound stupid but its a point i would look into. Remember a manual car has better handling, braking & makes u think about driving well a bit more. Anyway thats my 2c on that one + im not looking at selling my sp as i luv it to much to sell.

Good luck with ur purchase.

Welcome to AGT and congrats to the lad on his licence.
Mazdas have a reputation for being held onto for four years or thereabouts, then the next model comes out.
On that side the Mazda is a wise purchase as 10 year old Astinas start at $10,000. Can't say that about a Falcodore :P

Thanks guys for the feedback but we have made a decision to buy this type of car for a couple of reasons.

1. I think that while he is still relatively inexperienced, better to not complicate things with a manual transmission and concentrate more on driving the car without having to worry about gear changing.
2. The car must have abs, dual airbags and rate high on the "howsafeisyourcar.com" which the Astina does.
3. The yellow stands out like a sore thumb so hopefully it has a better safety factor if we can find one.

From what we have seen of cars on the market, gee this small car segment is inundated with terrific bargains and great cars. Even new vehicles with factory bonuses offer deals that make it near impossible to go past them. Consequently, the used car market has been savaged and this includes your types of used Astinas.
The reality is don't expect to get the once great selling prices of yesteryear. We'll let you know how we get on!

PS. As for the licence testing....the whole thing is a joke. Drive around a pre-detirmined set of streets.......

Regards,
Rob and thanks for the warm welcome on here.

Hi Nate,
The Ferrari is a 550 Maranello that I tinted but sadly it's a clients.
The same dude has had a 348, updated that to a 355, then to the 550 and that is about to be sold now as well. Tinted all of them!

I can say it now but I've just tinted for the Sydney International Motor Show and Holden their top secret 5 door hatch project known to them as the XP 54.
Wait till you see that with the glass roof and all.

Regards,
Rob

Hi City,
I did find a better one than that but the dollars were just a tad too high for us. (at Mentone Renault used cars) Car has been sold for $23000!

It was exactly the same with only 18000Kms, yellow, 12 months reg, just serviced by Mazda, bonnet protector, SP 20 mats, tint and absolutely pristine.
Had one door opening mark they were prepared to have popped out by Dentmasters and a new spare tyre as the one in it had a curb gouge out of the sidewall.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for us. We really appreciate it.

Regards,
Rob and Karl.

Holden's special project: The old SSX with some tarting up?

Can't wait to see it on Friday.

Last years motorshow was a real flop!

Welcome aboard tinter, we could have used your advice when we had problems with the XR6 turbo's window tinting.

Make sure you get your son to join AGT too!
We will look out for him

Yes the Commodore SSX from last year was mine to tint as well.
Before I do any of these vehicles, I have to sign confidentiality clauses about not telling of their existence.

PS. We may have found a yellow SP. May know one way or other this weekend.
Rob.

it's very "Holden Vectra crossed with the Mazda3 Hatch front and the Sedan rear"!

Guys,
My turn for pumping you for your collective expertise and answers.
2 X SP 20 autos have taken our fancy :!:

Car 1. Yellow mid year 03 plated reg Sept with 18Kms....absolutely immaculate....striking colour but has modified noisey aftermarket rear muffler.....original junked and cannot be found! New factory exhaust is about $420 plus fitting. Can buy it for 22.

Car 2. Silver mid year 03 plated with 10Kms.... perfect condition with Prestige tilt and slide roof. Reg Jan 04 this year! Can buy it for 24.

So there we have it....one conservative and would get lost in a car park, the other standing out like a sore thumb.

If it was up to you, what would you have :?:
Rob.

Silver is a pretty "safe" colour in terms of resale.. the yellow will not appeal to some people.. and the sunroof is pretty cool..

Having said that, silver will also blend into those lovely foggy melbourne mornings and won't stand out as much as the yellow "bee" SP.. So going by your initial post you wanted something that people will avoid hitting and will stand out.. Plus.. your son will no doubt put a noisy exhaust on it anyway..

Both seem reasonably priced.. Both have their pro's and con's..

Regards
Adam

Would any of you say the sunburst yellow has a poorer resale value by being a 'full on" colour not necessarily suiting everyone?

I'd hate to buy the yellow and later on when we want to sell it have someone say shame about it being yellow. It does appear to be more popular with the females in our society.

Any thoughts and opinions on that after all it is you guys who own them?
