Hello from Adelaide
Hi All,
I've has my 1995 V6 BA Hardtop for a couple of years and I've loved it. As far as I can tell she is standard. I've only just found this forum as a result of searching the web for clues on what may have gone wrong with my clutch - see my post in the relevant area. My beast had an engine change before I got it so even though its clocked 286,000km I think the engine is a bit fresher than that. I'm also not sure if the engine is the standard KE or something else - will check that when I get home. The body has a bit of wear and tear and I would like to freshen it up but I need to find someone who will do a good job for a fair price - if and Adelaide members can point me in towards such a place, that would be cool. As far as engine performance goes, i can't help feeling that something is not quite right. I get poor power in the low RPM range, then a great kick in the pants above 4K. I get terrible pinging on hills (I live in a hilly area) unless I give her the good go juice. I wonder if the fuel computer is running right or if the sensors are OK, or maybe the engine change has caused some problems. Can anyone advise on how best to get that checked? I was thinking of getting remote locking installed and a new CD/MP3 player. Any advice on traps for young players there would be welcome. Anyway, thanks for being out there Spin35 AKA J-P |

welcome!
First, check the timing Go from there. Until you know whether it's set to spec, you will be wasting valuable effort trying to get it right. With little or no history of the engine prior to install, how do you know engine hasn't had cams changed? If it has had top-end cams installed, there will be a trade-off in lower-end power. It could be a ZE or equivalent? My KLZE MX6 would act a little like this. Cams work @ above 4krpm. Power curve on a dyno proves this. Can you identify head markings?
