The Issue Was This!!
ok so i got off my ass this afternoon after work and pulled my turbo and exhaust manifold off my car to see what was wrong with it and found this
the turbo shaft was broken in 2 exhaust blades were ok suprise suprise. the inlet side the fins were smashed hard core! good thing i just bought my slef A BRAND NEW GARRET GT28/71RS nice big turbo to power me up ok the reason that the old turbo blew was a mixture of a few things 1 being off balance (thanks gtx wgn) 2 waste gate actuator not being able to hold the flapper door close causeing it to under boost. now this normally wouldnt be a problem with the waste gate actuator the car would just be low on power due to boost not hitting peak. what i did was wind the boost up more so i was getting close to what i wanted to get psi wise. not relising at the time in order to get that psi the turbo was running as hard as it could. Not good to do this and being off balance didnt help the life of it either. so now im off to have a turbo manifold made for my new turbo and get it tuned will let you all know how i go..

You forgot the G there's quite a bit of difference between a T28 and your GT2871RS.
I told you it wasn't the ported wastegate that was the problem. I dont know about the actuator being a cause either as I had a think about it. Its the heat from compressing the air at higher boost that causes problems with the standard turbos so logic says that if you weren't running the boost theres not the heat to cause it to go bang. I reckon you should take some pictures of all the bits and email them to GTXWGN and see what he says about a refund, even half, as the car was only running for a week with it.

unless the turbo was more off balance than first thought, the only other cause can be the actuator ill show you on thursday mal. how soft the actuator has gone you can open it with very little efforft with you fingers.
yes you were right the ported wastegate was fine just how we left it. oh yer i did forget the G, edit made

An assumption based on a post GTXWGN put on fordlaser that he pulls down the turbo's
for inspection before selling. The turbo's are not rebalanced but marked and placed back in the same spot. I am Stumped trying to figure out another reason for it to snap a shaft in a week of usage. The whole leaking wastegate actuator theory doesn't work for me. Firstly to be clear the Haltech boost controller has a peak cut in it so the turbo cannot boost over 17psi which is high but still safe for an boost cut. So knowing that the turbo cant go above 17psi and assuming there is nothing wrong with the impeller then within reason Boost psi X = Y revolutions of the exhaust wheel. So irrespective of the how much exhaust gas is escaping out the wastegate if you are getting X boost you should have Y revolutions as they are both bolted to the same shaft. So if Pauls assumption is that he was overspinning his turbo to cause it to seize I cant see it. However if there are problems with the impeller which somehow is damaged and becomes inefficient then if you adjust your boost back to X, Y would be more as it has to work harder to make the same boost as before, which could then be a problem. Paul being a mechanic that works on cars day in day out the chances of him dropping something into the turbo are zero and he had a brand new airfilter and mandrel bent intake pipe so what else could cause a snapped shaft and destroyed impeller in a week.

unbalanced turbos dont take a week to blow up
more like when you hit xxxxxxxxxx rpm, ,,then it'll then let go..as in they can blow up in 10 secs or less!!! my old vj20 let go because of a leaning issue which started to melt the the housing ..causing it to eat the exhaust wheel...causing it to grid it's self to bits.. while melting the wastegate port.lol that was the funnist bit, looked like a dogs ring hole! sounds like a nasty one if it snapped it in two bits.!

Pulling down the turbo also leaves the shaft and wheels attached to the core (Balanced). You only really just take the exhaust and compressor housing off, clean it up, have a look and re-assemble.

If thats all he does then fine no different to you and I pulling our new Garretts apart to to get the exhaust housing HPC coated and the front polished. I must have missread the post.
Quicksilver I sent you a PM about your custom fuel rail after the speedflow fittings used mainly the -6 adapters that screw into the extruded rail or did you have them welded in. Ta Mal
