I have little to add except my experience with some cheap mineral stuff and Castrol Magnatec 10w40 in my car.
Cheap mineral oil I probably got 3,000 km before it started burning oil, by the 5,000km mark it was getting silly how much oil it was burning. Castrol Magnatec, might add 100ml by the 6,000km mark, 8,000km another 100ml but normally I'd change it well before 8,000km. Over 8,000km I only added about 200ml and I overfilled it to begin with. My engine isn't particularly low mileage either, it has 126,000km on the clock but god knows if that is true because it's a Jap import. Can't really hear any lifter noise so if it's been wound back it wont be by much. To sum it up cheap mineral oil sucks.
