yooo
Hey guys,
Umm i guess i should start with a bit about me.. I'm Nathan and I live in Perth WA, I'm 19 and still on my P's, I'm about to buy a 96 Hardtop Astina V6 in a couple days after turning my ef xr6 into a a tincan the day after i bought pacemakers...(dumb story), kinda got fed up with the fact aussie cars just gain more power through more fuel consumption compared to jap/euros using technology. 85 bucks every four days at bp ftl . Umm I would just like to find out what everyone thinks of the 2l 6's, any advice would be appreciated Cheers people |

excellent cars with excellent engines mate
ive got a freak v6 engine which has put up with me for about 18months and hasn't died. Its friend the gearbox has though . My falt really but meh, i don't have a bad thing to say about them really. fuel consumption you;ll find is good at about 10L/100km. 11 when really pushed, and i mean really pushed for a long period of time. They love to rev, they are smooth and so far, pretty trouble free. second hand parts are a bit scarse for the hardtops but apart from that, ive encoutered no real troubles. Brillint handling, drop a set of eibach or whiteline springs in and a rear swaybar and you'll outcorner the zippiest of cars. Good luck with it mate, hope to see more of your posts around. BTW im also 19 and if that has anything to do with tase in cars, you'll love the ol hardtop.

here's my comparison
i own the astina and i have a 97 Prelude VTIR. The BA craps all over the honda. Sure the honda is newer and has half the k's but it lacks that character that makes you fall in love with a car. The astina is faster (yes VTEC is overrated), it out handles the lude in every corner, it is zippier and it is more practical due to being a 4door. It is just a nice car to drive, it has this sence of wanting to be driven (as ghey as i sound now, bare with me). It is just a car with character, if that makes any sence. Have you ever driven a bucked of crap and loved it to bits...? Its like that except the astina is not a bucket of crap, but a brilliant car. Seriusly mate, i paid 5k for the astina over a yaer ago, and almost 15k for the lude and the lude is still not my favorite. I actually dislike it when compared to the astina. And thats not a bias opinion coz i own both cars, but i just love the astina to bits.

Yeah I see what you mean with the comparison, being under 25 and having a bad history means no insurance companies will insure a 2 door coupe so it's perfect, my only major problem with the astina is what you said yourself, everyone tells me parts are a nightmare and expensive as well . I just love the fact it's so different to what most people are used to, noone i've told believes there is such a thing as a 2 litre v6.. :/ that's what you get for living in holden country though

Welcome to AGT!
It's not that parts are hard to get, it just depends what you're after.

Thanks mate,
I can't imagine messing with the engine too much (I remember saying the same about my last car...), probably just dump it, intake and exhaust for now... oooh yeah and the dodgy stocker stereo :P I pick her up from the dealership tomorrow |
