Removing spoiler surface marks on paint

Hey all.

I removed the spoiler from my 96 BA Astina today. It was a bit of a struggle seeing as it was never fitted properly and I had a slight issue with rust around the framework of the trunk. I had this treated and all is well, sealing the holes in the trunk with 7mm rubber grommets. Looks alright and I'm not one to fuss too much about it looking like it once had a spoiler, except for the marks that have been left from it being on their for 13 or so years.

They are a white-ish sort of hazy ring where the spoiler sat on the trunk, and at the front of the rings there are like small scratches where I'm guessing small stones or other objects were forced under between the trunk and the spoiler whilst driving.

I'm looking to get a detailed picture up of exactly what I mean, but in the meantime, does anybody know of a way to possibly remove these marks? I've asked around and it seems there is no short term everyday fix, and that it takes around 6 months of regular washing, polishing etc to remove the residue.

Thanks for the tips I'll give them a go this weekend. Will probably be trying the cut and polish first hahaha.
