wakefield pk track times
don't know if there is a thread already about this but i'm heading down there in my stock 323 BA hardtop and just wondering what time would be good.
my car has 205/40r17 nexen (chinese) tyres and lowered with new shocks, new std pads and thats about it. car handles great but is incredibly slow i'm thinking i'll do about 1:25 |

1:25 would be a respectable time for your config, if you know the track well enough you should be able to get under that.

in dry - tyres will limit you and the pads but if you don't hurt the car and keep it's revs in it's power band and let if flow easy 1.24. But the poor tyres will hurt you.
I went down in slighlty wet conditions and 3 year old chinese hard tyres. could not better 1.23 and or 1.22 it was just wheel spin out of two and the fish hook. BUT man it was alot of FUN |

well i did a 1:20.22 as my fastest lap and all laps where between 1:22 and 1:20 but the last run i tried different approaches and stuffed all of them up. i was 4th slowest on the day but i left at 4pm and 2 of the guys that where slower beat my time after i left. so i was 2nd slowest on the day really.
car went really well but had no front grip even with my toyo ra1's. i think my tyre pressures where a bit high (34deg after driving to goulburn so higher during the race) and the inside front wheel spun on every corner so i think i need stiffer springs to hold the tyre to the track. oh well for a first time i'm happy and hope to take 2 sec off next time if someone shows me how to drive on that track. |

I was there in the morning watching on turn 2, you where carrying some good speed around turn 1 but the understeer got you on turn 2 which is natural without a stiffer front end. From what I saw you kept it fairly straight and was able to keep that Alpha GTV at bay during the first session. Good job, with more track knowledge there's probably 18's in the car. I will be heading down some time next month for a test day, welcome to join.

you could have given me some tips...i needed them
the gtv was a 2.0l I4 but was gutted and had proper semi slicks and so i was happy to keep up with him on the straight, he got me on the up hill and i think i got him under brakes but he was much quicker out of the corners, i was faster all day but he got a 1.18 after i left, so did the red alfa 75 he was 1.20 all day then 1.18 when i went home..bugger both those guys said it was their first time there too. i'm very keen to head down for a test day so keep in touch. after inspection on my tyres i think i needed more neg camber on the front (i had 1.5deg) and needed some neg on the rear as both front and rear had more wear on the outside. i got vids i'll put on youtube so you can tell me where i went wrong |

Hmm, 1:14 in mine on rally tyres with basic tune and sucking through 34mm restrictor.
Just need to go back and test with tarmac tyres. On the dummy Grid http://mcm.smugmug.com/Cars/McM-Rall...29_NuEcp-M.jpg

Circuitclub often hold fairly cheap track days, maybe we could organise a couple of astinas to go to one of those if numbers are a problem
