GB: Progress 22mm Rear Sway Bar for 1998-2003 Mazda Astina/Protege
Im just about to order a progress rear sway bar from the USA,
http://www.progressauto.com/products.../productID/446 Price is around US$ 150 and its around $50 in shipping. Does anyone else want to grab one at the same time to cut shipping costs by about $20 each Progress Auto Group won't ship to Australia themselves so I have found another supplier they suggested. Im going to order later today/tomorrow so let me know ASAP if you want one. |

After all the horror stories I have heard about protegegarage I am certain that I will NOT deal with them,
From looking on the US forums which PG sponsors everytime a negative post is made it seems to disappear. Funny?? Im going to order them tonight, do you think you can get me the money ASAP? |

As far as I know you can use stock endlinks, but I am going to buy some adjustable endlinks, most likely whiteline ones though

Yeah. Most forums have a bad mouthing rule as well meaning you can't bad mouth them else where on the forums either.

I have had this rr sway on my car for yrs now. Love it. Car is lowered 1.4 all around and using oem endlinks with tokico illuminas. No issues with fit, noise or strut tabs. Car has 3-wheel motion entering sloped driveways at angles so be aware of the tire lifting to come.

Hi Phil, how'd you go with installing this sway bar? Any hassles? I have a BJII 1.8 and looking at new sway bars... I read in another thread for that sp20 owners where having some difficulties with knocking and stuff from another Aussie supplier.
Cheers, Raf |

Hey Ice, did you require any different end links or will the stock ones be ok?

TBH this is the best sway bar design I have seen so far for the 323.
I had a Progress + SP20 + Autoexe and a stock 1.8 swaybar all side by side at the same time and the difference between them is quite surprising. The 1.8 you can easily flex and twist, the SP 20 is a little stiffer and the autoexe is stiffer again. However the Progress sway bar does not flex or twist when I tried it. I hung most of my weight off it and nothing!! My car is running the stock endlinks and I have never heard a knock or clunk unlike the Australian designed one. I do however have to be careful pulling into driveways and car parks as the car now loves to lift its inside rear tyre. |

Hey Phil, great explanation. thanks for that.
I'm sold on the Progress Bar. I don't mean to digress from topic but I wanted to ask you about your brakes - as I'm thinking of getting the same DBA slotted and the QFM pads set up, I was going to go the 5stud conversion but it seems I need new brakes ASAP and so I will beef up my current set up instead. Are yours the T2 slotted street series I've searched on the net? Do you have a part no. And most importantly are they Ok? Cheers, Raf |

I ended up getting mine from a place called Ultrarev in the states and had no isses with shipping and recieved them within 10 days.
http://www.ultrarev.com/62.1122.html It does take a little bit of driving to get used to the super stiff rear end but once you do it is well worth the effort. |

I didn't need too. Not a bad thing to replace though while your doing it given there probably 10+ years old now.

the progress bar does not require the end links to be replaced... but do keep those bushes greased up regularly because the brackets are weak crap that can break! It could also break the mounting stud on the crossmember! I've seen it happen before... my mate ended up with a broken bracket, so he got lucky
