KF to KL conversion visible differences?
Hello
I'm new to this forum so please be gentle on me if I raise topics that have been raised countless times before. I am now the very proud owner of a White 98 Astina v6 Manual.. Hard combo find in good condition.. The only thing else I really wanted was the sunroof option.. Anyway cut to the chase ..Contemplating the KF 2.0 to KL 2.5 conversion.. I believe from what I read here that they are visibly identical except for the intake which needs to be swapped anyway. Question.... has anyone in Australia had problem at registration/RWC time with inspectors not liking the engine numbers relating to the KL..or are they just unaware??.. I don't really want to have to go to the bother of an engineers certificate etc Looking forward to the project.. |

Pretty much impossible to see the engine number anyway - you could make up one and they wouldn't be able to confirm it. Plus the engine is externally identical to anyone but a specialist/enthusiast

It will void all of your insurances if something happens and you get found out. The blocks are cast with KF and KL markings.
If you are swapping to a KL-DE from a local 626 then you can use the inlet manifold to make the swap easier and less obvious.

Thnkx guys.. that's good info..
i don't want to go overboard so will stick with a relatively tame and hassle free local motor from a 626 or TX5. BTW are there ay differences/improvements with the later or earlier 2.5's? And what do you think I should pay for a motor that (if I can find one) has about 120k on it? Think I've just hijacked my own thread!! |
