Mazda Astina 1990 5 SP Head Unit Removal
Hi Astina gurus.
Just bought my son a 1990 model hatch to "L" drive. I love this care myself has plenty of power and not a drop of oil being this old. If you can help I was just wondering what is the easiest way to remove the factory head unit as the 16yr old wants an updated head unit to connect his phone etc. Oh yes the speakers as well. Any advise would be fantastic. Newbie member - THX |

Speakers in the front doors are 6", but you'll need a shallow mount speaker or else the windows wont go all the way down. Pioneer makes a 6" shallow speaker, look for 'S' as the last character in the model name. Rear speakers are 4" and are sitting above the rear shocks and any model should fit fine.
As for headunit, pretty sure you need to remove the handbrake surround piece, the 2 kick panels in the foot wells, the shifter surround piece, and then you can unscrew the 2 screws hidden above the climate controls to release the 'tombstone' of plastic. Then you will finally have access to remove the headunit and be able get to the audio loom.

Jump on our Facebook group mate, you'll get answers a heck of a lot faster. To be honest the forums are very slow these days.
