Ah what a wonderful find this thread is, as mine leaks too..
Hardly ever in the rain, but always when i wash it. wierd eh'? If you just take it to a smash repairer will they just be able to redo those 2 spot welds? |

but they will keep cracking until they break through, mine cost $20 to fix as I had removed wipers, trim and drivers side wiper link.

My car had to be rewelded as it was leaking very badly and water poured through every time it rained and you could hear it creaking every time you pushed in on the clutch.
It was done one year out of warranty by Mazda as it was a design flaw, they also gave me a loan car while it was being fixed. |

Yeah, drove home tonight in the rain, bare feet and did notice it would drip after changing gears etc, but then would stop dripping. Lit up the tyres at the lights and the water flooded down!!! lol =]

So its been raining quite a bit lately. Car has been parked in the rain, as well as driving in the rain, and happy t report that this has solved my leaking problems. I guess spot welding these back up is a more long term option (maybe?) but this has worked just as well.
edit: i'll try post a picture of how it looks now

Hi,
I am experiencing the same issue with my car (323 2002 SP20). As a temporary fix, I put a fair bit of silicon on top of cracked spot welds. This has stopped water from coming in for now. Today I took a car to my mechanic to get this fixed permanently, he reckons it wouldn't be an easy job and would probably require dash, trim, carpet and steering column to come out in order to redo the welds. He will talk to some panel beaters as well to see what they have to say. Current quote is around $600. Anyone got this fixed properly and how much did you end up paying? |
