My cooling fan is suddenly not working like before. It's weird that when not turning on A/C, it will operate well according to engine temperature commanded by ecu. But when turning A/C on, it still remain stop even engine temp. reach to high level. I wonder that it might come from loosen wiring or damaged ecu. |

It's gotta go to the ecu at some stage. IAC and VICS is controlled by the ECU, which requires rpm signal.

u have a pm with the picture ryan..
but the rpm signal doesnt go to the ecu, it goes from the dizzy to the tacho and to the diagnostics port.

The signal must go to the ECU. It's there the ignition is either advanced or retarded.

hmm... it appears the USDM series 3 BHA Protege uses the same pinout scheme on their ECUs.... I guess one thing you all can try is to buy a 97/98 Protege wiring diagrams book off US Ebay... should be cheap!

Rpm does go to the ecu! Wheel speed doesn't! ...ryan I have written up a list on one page as a quick outline what each pin does. A work in progress. There's a constant and a ign power Afm had two wires IIRC.

I dont think it is ryan.. There is a constant power and ground coming from the ecu. Then there is the tacho wire going from the dizzy to the tacho and diagnostics plug, and then there is the other two wires which are sending signals from the ecu to the dizzy.. Thats as much as i know atm..

Check the way the diagrams have arrows, the dizzy sends a pulse back to the ecu, its tapped on the diag port, I pulled apart the wiring and thought if anyone wants to get various things, the easiest way is from that box. It needs that signal. How would it injector cut?

You could do a low-boost setup on a stock engine (small turbo, 5psi), but if you wan serious power then you would be better to go for rods/pistons and lower compression
