Is that the turbo or non turbo motor. Try buying a half cut which includes the
brakes and then use those. ABS and Airbag will be fine as you are not touching them. The speedo reads from the gearbox so you will only have a problem if your gearbox will not connect to the 1.8 motor and you need to use a different gearbox. What size motor is your original 323F motor. Mal

The engine i want to use is a 1,8l Turbo from the Familia TXS (BG-T engine). I´ve bought the complete car, but its a 4WD an my car is an 2WD. does the brakes although fit?
The original engine in my car is the 1,8l DOHC 16V as you can see HERE Quote:

The lack of airbags and ABS in the Familia is irrelevant in the engine conversion because you only need the engine and its related control systems ( ie ecu, air flow sensor etc ) Providing your gearbox fits the new engine, you can keep your original gearbox as well.
You shouldnt need to touch the brakes, airbags, abs at all during the conversion, you will keep those that are already in your 323F. As for the speedo, you should be able to keep your original speedo, but it will need to be hooked up to the ecu from the familia. |

i know that i can use my old gearbox, because the engine is nearly the same. but the engine management system is different. or?
I don´t understand why i can use the abs and airbag from my car. doesn´t the ecu communicate with the abs and the airbags or is it seperate? The european version of the BA astina hasn´t the same brakes as your car. we have drum brakes on rear and disc brakes on front (hope u understand) Doesn´t have the Familia engine a mechanical for the speedo and the astina an electrical speedo? how does it work to use my old one?

The BA electric speedo fits into the same hole as the cable speedo would use. You will not have a problem their.
The ABS and Airbags are stand alone systems and after looking at the wiring book they don't communicate with the engine CPU. For now I would keep the standard brakes and upgrade later (unless you have local laws that demand bigger brakes. V6 brakes re-drilled to suit your wheels would work well the Australian rear brakes are the same for 4cyl and V6.

you mean, that i must use the cable speedo?
where can i get the wireing diagram for the BA? The problem with the V6 brakes is, that it is an 5 hole disc and the 4cyl version is a 4 hole disc Quote:

wiring for 1.8 BA ( aus-spec ) is here :
http://www.astinagt.com/wiring/B-2__...rol_Layout.jpg http://www.astinagt.com/wiring/B-2a_...rol_System.jpg http://www.astinagt.com/wiring/B-2b_...rol_System.jpg http://www.astinagt.com/wiring/B-2c_...rol_System.jpg http://www.astinagt.com/wiring/C-2a_...nt_Cluster.jpg http://www.astinagt.com/wiring/X-1__...ectors_1-5.jpg You will use the electric speedo sensor, not the cable one. nice car by the way. We dont see many BAs with proper boot installs like yours. |

The speedo is a gear that turns from another gear on the diff centre. The gear and mounting is the same for the the cable and the electric.
