Need to find a steering wheel....that can take a airbag...

has anyone ever had to replace a airbag steering wheel on their car... due to cracking and tearing a chunk off it when turning a corner =P

If so... where and how much roughly ?

If the bag is complete and you want the rim then check the local wreckers. To them once the bag is spent the wheel is almost worthless.

A wrecker give something away
1. You have to front up and ask for the wheel.
2. They tell you that most of 'em come in with the bags open.
3. You ask if they have one and how much.
4. You get a very high price.
5. You remind them that most they get have the bags open and your bag is intact, all you want is the wheel.
6. How much for one without the bag??? You either get a deal or get kicked out for being a smart ass

I have the same chunky problem and am wondering if a wheel of an rx7 series 7 or 8 would fit I dont mind the cost as much as the idea of fitting it. Would the mx5 wheel take a lot to fit, Ive never even thought about the problems associated with the removal of an airbag wheel before I am going to need to do something soon as the wheel is starting to separate from the metal ring now. Its starting to twist like a motorbike throttle.

same thing happened to fine. you *can* pump it full of epoxy glue and that will rebond the steering wheel somewhat.

but i just replaced mine with something better (as mine didnt have an airbag anyway)
