Soooo had my work xmas party last night, that went all fine and dandy workmate was smashed pole dancing and spewing will be fun on monday, but it was on the drive home I was razzing my car hitting rev limiter and then all of a sudden I loose power the car is misfiring really bad was really ****ting bricks since i had 40k's to get home, Babied it home pheww no engine light on.
Anyway decided to take a look at it this morning though it was coil's since some people have had issues with coils latley but it wasnt, took the plugs out had a look and found my problem, the piston has actually hit the spark plug well at least i think it did, either that or its got really hot gone soft and the compression has pushed it up, so was off to supercheap bought 4 new plugs, new oil filter and some 20w 50. Was good as new no more missfire, lesson learnt wont be razzing the heck out of it now Last edited by Hammo; 09-12-2012 at 11:17 AM. |

So as soon as I seen it sitting there when I got home from work went straight on the car Sounds just as good as Azza's when I went for a ride in his. My only concern is that its sitting on my rear bumper but ill fix that up on the weekend And 2 Months 3 Weeks and 1 Day ago I orderd my rear sway bar from then Wholesale Suspension now Penrith City Suspension, Still havent recieved it yet, even after calling up and asking whats going on with it still waiting for a reply |

I can already tell you what's happening. Bar has been on order by wholesale suspension to fulcrum in Queensland for 8weeks (or so) and fulcrum are giving pete the run around and now blaming the floods up in Queensland for some of the delay. Pretty sure u will hear from pete very shortly. Lol

I bought mine about 20 mins after you and you got yours first! Unfair!!!
Looks sweet tho, how are you going to stop it sitting on your bumper? I spy the old muffler sitting off to the right... =P

Soo been fiddling around with the car on the weekend, fitted correct size sockets and new bulbs in my tail lights,
will be adding a extra light down the bottom soon, took apart all of the boot again filled the rear quarter panels with foam I got from work for doing a couple of steering racks, was going to do an oil change today but started to rain While the bonnet was up I had a look around made sure nothing was leaking, all fluids were right etc, then noticed that one of my engine mounts has a split and is almost completely broken so put in an order at Protege Garage bought a new set of AWR Engine mounts 70 Duro hopefully should be here before it brakes completley Also its getting pretty close for me to change the timing belt / water pump on it, so will be looking at doing that shortly |

I just noticed your spark plugs being smashed... it's not from pistons hitting the spark plugs... THINK mate! if the pistons hit the spark plugs, that would be the least of your worries... you'd be looking at a new piston and new valves then!
the cause of the damage was from a broken VICS screw you need to find out where the screw went or if it's still in bouncing around on top of the piston then there's 4 fixes you can do: 1) replace upper intake manifold with good 2nd hand one, then replacing all screws with brand new ones from mazda using recall kit part # FSY2-13-SRZ 2) replace upper intake manifold with brand new one from mazda under specially reduced price recall part # FSY4-13-SRY 3) remove VICS completely and fill the holes... reduces low speed engine performance and lose fuel efficiency 4) find and install FS-ZE intake manifold which has a better VICS butterfly design... screws will not likely fall out due to the better VICS design... improved performance at low and high RPM extremes... the cheap inferior design of the FS-DE VICS butterflies is why the screws fall out, especially after much high RPM engine use

Im thinking that the spark plug had pre detonated and when it come to the compression stroke it bent the plug,
car has been running fine ever since i put new plugs in it, but ive got a bore scope here will take the plugs out and check anyway if there is a screw floating around, i highly doubt it but never know |
