right, i bought some auto-glum interior shampoo, but its not very...powerful. but it hasnt ruined the seats and smells nice... i guess ill try some of that.. where did you get it?

I only found about the UK site because it was in a Classic & Sportcar magazine i buy. Their stuff is really worth the money though.

From personal experience, yes. I did a spot best on the drivers RHS lower bolster, and it cleaned it perfectly. And that probably hadn't been cleared in 3 or 4 years. It got rid of all the 'mechanical' marks and ingrained dirt. If i remember over the weekend, i'll test them both and see which one works best.

Small update:
Aragosta coilovers installed. Completely failed to make pictures of the install, or the comparison between the old JIC coilovers and the new ones. Specs of the Aragostas: Cusco camber tops, Rana race springs, Aragosta monotube adjustable dampers, height-adjustable bodies, and height-adjustable springs. Adjustment is on the bottom of the shock, for easy access! Outcome: Aragostas are a little nicer in daily driving from the 50kms or so i've done on them. Need to play with the damper settings more as they're currently on full soft, and i forgot to preload the springs a little. Am thinking of getting some 10mm hubcentric spacers to push the rims out from the suspension a little more, and give me a bit more peace of mind. And a bit more flush fitment! Also tried testfitting the gunmetal Mazdaspeed MS-01S in 18x8 +40...but yeah, not enough clearance with that offset and without stretched rubber. ...and happening today: - Install of super-gearbox - Braided lines for gearbox (two needed, not one as i thought!) - APP braided brake lines - Polyeurethane lower control arm bushes - with offset caster - Front polyeurethane swaybar bushes - fit dual V6 Astina horns...and get them working.

You will notice this right away because the first corner you take you will nearly do a U turn. I was used to turning the steering wheel a certain amount, but when I got my bushes installed it dropped the amount of steering wheel turn by at least 50%. One of the best handling mods after the coilovers, which you have as well. |

Picked it up last night.
So, apparently the lower control arm bushes were completely shagged, which was making the steering loose and unpredictable. Apparently they weren't lubed up enough when originally installed and they've overheated, which leads them to collapse and turn to powder. So they shaved a few mm off each bush and packed more of the grease stuff in there when installing them this time. The steering is MUCH tighter and a fair bit heavier now, which was a little surprising. But no more weird clunks, so replacing those LCA bushes has fixed a multitude of sins. The best thing is that the torque steer is completely gone! It barely pulls at all under power, as i tested last night by booting it with no hands on the wheel LOL...until it got high in the rev range and started wandering (but that could have been road condition based!). As for the LSD...all i can say is HOLY %$^^%. I've only really booted it around one corner under power as i'm trying to run it in, and....HOLY %$^^%. It just pulls. Goes exactly where i want it to. Doesn't complain, doesn't fight, just corners with a ridiculous amount of grip and traction. Also great off the line too, just traction limiting me there. The wheel alignment will be helping with that. -2° at the front, about -1.5° at the rear, and +0.5 toe at the front. As for the straight cut 3rd gear...i just cackle like an idiot every time i hear it. Like, seriously. Like an idiot. So good.

Mine wasn't cheap either, but once you hear 3rd and hit some corners with the LSD it doesn't matter what it cost anymore. You sound exactly like me Rupe, don't you just love hitting corners now?

I'd partially forgotten about the longer ratio 5th gear until last night - when i suddenly realised that there was much more of a gap between 4th and 5th. Luckily i've got plenty of torque so it's fine around town at 60-80kms, but it's noticably different. I didn't think it would be. 3rd is very addictive - i want a full straight-cut gearset now LOL. I'll keep that for the next gearbox.

5th gear proved its value last night as i had to do a ~100km trip on 99% highways. The drop in revs and noise was noticeable. I'm now doing 3000prm @ 110kph, where before it was 3000 @ 100kph.
Really need to firm up the shocks though - a little too much rebound happening at the moment. But then again they are set to full soft so it's to be expected. And got a new combination stalk from Cosmo to replace my dud one. It'll be nice to have a working horn again. Might get to that this weekend.
