+2...hope its just a bad front crank seal or such. Good work on getting it running man. That short trip 'round the block would have felt sweet, get some footage of it roaring on the dyno eh?

Can you make something work, or are you going to have to tear down the engine again?

Yep.. it sucks.. he has done the following and it looks better. so he is going to put it all back together, start it up, take her for a short drive to get oil pressure up and see if the fix worked.. if not i have givin him the go ahead to rip the motor out, take it to his engine builder (how knows my engine builders very well) and he will fix the crank. Then put it all back together and tune it.. yer its probably going to cost me a few thousand to get that, but at the end of the day it needs to be fixed.

UPDATE
So it looks like we may have fixed the leak for now. its going on the dyno soon and that will be the real test. on idle it done leak and when revving it it doens tleak ether. so fingers crossed it works Brad has found lots of small little issues, which isn't common on a massive build like this that has spanned many years (nearly 3 years now :O) one of which was when i welded the wastegate shut i didnt do it right.. so when you come off the throttle and the engine revs down the internal gate vibrates. He will be fixing a couple of small wiring issues with the car. if it all goes well i should have it back in two weeks take bets now.. will it stay together and how much power will she make??

Update time guys,
So my turbo died. What had happened is something that I should have seen but didn’t even think to look. A weld dag had come off the inside of the manifold and got stuck in the turbine wheel pretty much killing it. It was in its first power run too after being on the dyno for a good 4 hrs. I have since picked up the car and brought her home. Will need to save up a little bit now to get a manifold copied so I don’t have to remake everything. I have sourced a new evo7 turbo too which is good. Had to move the car under its own power a couple of times, was a little loud with nothing attached.

UPDATE
What a mission, getting a Toyota gearbox out with out removing the engine is not fun at all. Found the issue with the 4th gear. The reverse gear cir clip was hitting on the 4th gear shifter not allowing it to make the full travel. removed all the good bits from my box like the upgraded reverse gear selector, bearing plate, and 3rd to 4th gear oil squirters.

Like buying a gbox, shafts and shortshifter for cheap from a mate Should last long enough to get you up and running while you tweak the toyota setup ready for install. |
