i no about the width difference wat im saying is there a 45 an the sp is a 50 so the rolling diametter can not be the same
dont matter if its a 125x 45 or 365 x 45 its still a 45 not a 50 an the series determins the over-all diameter - ie rolling dia-

the series is only part of the rolling diameter. it combined with the width determines the rolling diameter. series is how tall the sidewall is in percentage compaired to the width. so 195/50 - the sidewalls are 9.75cm tall. 215/45 - the side walls are 9.67cm tall - close enough to be the same.

Tyres are labeled www/hh/rr lls
Where www is the overall width of the tyre in mm hh is the height of the side wall from the rim to the outermost point and is expressed as a ratio of the width (see twilightproteges post) rr the total diamater of the rim in inches (some BMW use mm but they are rare and obvious), multipy by 25.4 to convert to mm ll is the load rating, the higher the number the higher the load rating s is the speed rating, a letter, the closer to 'Z' the higher the speed rating So the diamater of the standard BA 1.8 185/65/14 is 65% of 185 = 120.25mm top and bottom of the rim = 240.5mm plus the 14" rim (355.6mm). Total 596.1mm BA alloy option 195/55/15 is 55% of 195 = 107.25mm top and bottom of the rim = 214.5mm plus the 15" rim (381mm). Total 595.5mm Use this to calculate your original diamater then you can make variations to plan new tyre, rim combos

I'm in a lantis, but love the difference my a-symetrical yoka's have made.
The A-symetrical has removed alot of the understear problems in the lantis, but i'm not sure if this is such a problem in the sp20? They non symetrical pattern allows good cornering and water clearence while not compromising to much on noise or wear - it just hurts the back pocket a little. :|

Sorry to bring this up again guys...
I am on the market for new tyres but not really wanting the standard Yoki 460's... I have been told the 205/45/R16 A539's will fit my rims... I asked if the speedo would be out and he said no, but before they fit them, they would do a thorough check. I got quoted $210 for the A539's in 205/45/R16 $198 for the 460's in 195/50/R16 (same as standard) What other tyres can I look at? Falkens? Thanks. |

Try goodyear Eagle F1's, I think they are in the size you are after.

My Yokies lasted 24,000 km but they stuck like **** to a white blanket. At $195 a tyre though is a little steep, so I got onto the GT Radials for less than $130 a tyre. Grips levels are ok in the dry but no where as nice as the Yokies in the wet. So you need to take a little easier.
Also I found that having to high a tyre pressure you can lose quite a bit of mid corner grip with a SP20 because of the stiffer suspension. Standard tyre sizes I found 34 PSI cold is just about right. cheers 8) |

Hi all I'm new, just thought I'd get straight into it.

i will be getting toko proxes t1-s 205/45/16 as my next tyres for my 20. as far as i'm concerned, money should be no object when it comes to getting the grippiest tyres you can get. afterall, it is the only part of your car that touches the ground

Well i read all the forums on tyres on went against all the odds and got Pirelli Tyres, P6000, stock size 195/50/16, great looking tyre, wet and dry weather performance, very happy
More tread than you can poke a stick at! |

4 my next set, im lookin at either falken 512's, not bad for 125 per tyre
or some toyo proxies t1 currently have kumho 711, not a bad tyre...grips pretty good, tread is decent. |
