well i got a new macro lens filter few days ago
i payed about $20 for it and a wide angle lense filter as well. i think its a little better than paying 400 for the "best" macro lens stand alone anyway in a money vs result kind of way here is a ant that just wouldnt stay still.. i mean fcuk thye move fast, but i managed to stop this one for only a second and a bit and here is a spider that can fit on your thumbnail now that i think about it i probably should have used my tripod.. next time the photoes have much more detail when viewd on the comp as they are 4288x2848 but photobucket scales them down considerably.. oh i also finaly learned how to use more options on my camera.. i know what bracketing means now and photoshop does a awesome job at combining the photo's in to a HDR image Last edited by 70NYD; 30-10-2010 at 02:12 PM. |

Wow. Looking good there Tony. What brand lens did you get and where from for that price? Also what do you mean by filter as my understanding is the filter just screws onto the end of the lens so you don't need a specific wide angle or macro filter, just the lens.

its litteraly a filter that screws at the top of the lense. the wide angle filter screws using the macro filter (otherwise you cannot focus at all) and the macro screws to the front of the lense.. its just liek a magnifying glass i guess. i got them of ebay. really decent quality 2. was gonna get lenses but they were like 400 ish and the wide angle lesne would have been a waste of money for me. i want a 18-200 so i dont have to change them all the time as i already had dust blobs on the img sensor..

Great shots Tony, I really like the ant. You must be very pleased with the results especially from a $20 filter kit. Money well spent!

That's damn impressive for not having a tripod. I find it hard to keep my hand steady enough to take even normal shots. Maybe it's the caffeine!

Thx guys those photos were very fortunate to have full sunshine and no wind when I went to get the tripod for the spider a while after (since it didn't move at all) clouds moved over and wind picked up.. The ones i took then were either too dark or blurred so the freehabd ones were much better. next time il bring a tripod straight away but knowing my luck, il set it up and it will start raining... LOL
But when I say freehand I kinda braced my self against my knees to steady Last edited by 70NYD; 30-10-2010 at 11:44 PM. |

Sweet pics Tony
Well, it seems a couple of us (Gav, Bourbs & I) are getting back into photography, and after some persuasion by the Gavsta, I purchased a 52mm Lens Adaptor for my SX120IS, along with a .045x Wide Angle Lens, and a 3 pack filter kit (CPL, UV & ND2) all for just over $50

Don't give me credit for that gay yum-cha wide angle lens! You will have fun times with those filters though!
Tip: When photographing people in bright sunlight - use the flash to eliminate shadows on their faces [and bewbz]. Increase the saturation [select 'Vivid' on Canon compacts], and reduce your ISO to 100 and shoot in 'P' mode. This will make your photos pop, and look more exciting without over-exposing. |

Nice pics Tony
I especially like the light trails around the streetlights made by the moths and bugs in the first photo And what is that in the sky on the left hand side 3/4 way up the frame? a red light and 2 white lights (UFO) and nobody say stars because they are not in the next frame!! Anyway Nice shots |

well, there is an airport a couple k's down the road from where that photo was taken, so im guessing plane lights
Tony, were they taken on the esplenade? It reminds me when Tash & I stayed at an apartment overlooking the carpark to Bulcock Beach in October last year

they were taken from the landmark resort
the 1st photo my guess would be a airplane, and the second photo, that would most likely be a boat, since the enterance to the river/eastuary is right there |
