ugh, any gb plan, or recommendation of ignition wires?
i'm looking on this: MAGNECOR 8.5mm Ignition Wires ('01-'03 2.0L) Ignition Cables feature Magnecor's exclusive 2.5mm high capacity Metallic Inductance EMI Suppressed conductor consisting of stainless steel wire precisely wound at 200 turns per inch over a ferrimagnetic core. The insulating jacket is made entirely of Magnecor's exclusive TC-1500-HS high strength aerospace grade silicone rubber, and its single layer construction will prolong the jacket's insulating ability by conducting extreme heat away from hot-spots that occur near over-the-limit heat sources. US$68

mizda - well i'm just about to extend the deadline, see below
cloudland - i have those wires and they are good. i'm sure a GB could be arranged as i know another person who would definately get them. everyone, this is very very important!!! the GB deadline will be extended for the following reasons. chicaboo and i were today looking at our cars. we decided to check the plugs. anyway, checking back to the plug colour site, we found that his plugs was like colour 23 and mine was like colour 21 (i have heat range 6 atm). so gav is going to change his to heat 6 and i'm going to change mine to heat 7 for later and some heat 6 for now. before i place this order, i want everyone to check their plugs and confirm what plug they want (in accordance with the temp site below) and mark their order as confirmed. if your plug is in the "best" or "but ok" range, you are safe to get the same temp plug as what you have now. if you have "but ok", you can choose to go colder or hotter depending on what it says. if you're anything else, you must go hotter or colder than what you have now. if you need help deciding this, tell me what your plug looks like and we'll work it out. and the site is http://www.dansmc.com/spark_plugs/sp...s_catalog.html so, pls do this asap! remember, ZF's are only heat 5 and 6, BK's from heat 5 to heat 9 1. twilightprotege - 4 x heat 7 BK, 4 x heat 6 ZF confirmed 2. chicaboo - 4 x heat 6 ZF confirmed 3. mizda - 6 x heat 5 ZF 4. boosted - 6 x heat 6 ZF 5. sabrelli - 4 x heat 5 ZF 6. skippy - 6 x heat 6 ZF 7. ezin - 4 x heat 5 ZF 8. raven - 4 x heat 6 ZF 9. nalawa - 4 x heat 5 ZF 10. cloudland - 4 x heat 5 ZF 11. mazdabator - 4 x heat 6 BK 12. chipa - 4 x heat 5 ZF 13. chimpy - 4 x heat 5 ZF 14. coldie123 - 4 x heat 5 ZF 15. snert - 4 x heat 5 ZF another important note, heat 7+ is $11 per plug rather than $10 per plug any questions, just ask! |

Is this only if anything other than standard was used before?
Is this only necessary if the engine has been modded? Mine is a stock car that was fleet owned and serviced by mazda so everything in there had better be stock. would we need to check all sparkies or should they all be about the same? cause I have no chance at reaching the ones at the back without some other tools. How long is the GB extension? FYI The manual says NGK 1.8L BKR5E-11 2.0L BKR6E-11, I am little nervrous about going from BK to ZF anything you can say to ease my mind, more detial the better, probably will go the ZF. PS The sparkies in the V6 need replacing a 90k i am at 88.5 so mmmm perfect. FYI : New Topic New topic started started re ignition leads. called (you'll never guess) Ignition leads. |

if you're happy with what heat range you have selected and you're happy not to worry about checking, then mark your name as confirmed. i just want everyone to be happy with their choice oh plugs.
if your engine is NA then 1 plug should be fine to check. and the GB extension is until everyone confirms what they have ordered, so everyone dont forget to check and confirm in terms of not being sure about going from BK to ZF, there is a way to be certain it will be fine. when you're taking the plug out to check it, make sure the engine is at TDC. measure the distance from the top of the piston to a point of your choosing. write the distance down. measure the length of the spark plug. minus that from the original distance. put the plug back in, then measure the distance from the top of the plug to your original top point and subtract that figure from the original figure. if you have more than 5mm left over, you'll be safe. i will go and measure the sp20 engine shortly |

the sp20 has 11mm clearance from the bottom of the plug to the top of the piston. it is certainly safe to go with ZF's.
i would say most engines would be around that sort of clearance with the BK plugs (which are 76mm long). |

ugh i tried to figure things out today but it looks a bit complicated. ops: it looks i have to unfastern a couple of screws to actually reach the plug wires, i'll check out the manual, but - is it safe to assume that heat range 6 would works fine with me?

Going to speak to my resident mechanic tonite, been away the bastard.
Just wondering how important would this be to check the Colour of the current Sparkies for the standard unmodded car as the manual says straight up V6 = heat 6 no ifs no buts, I can understand as you do things like turbo, CAI, RRFPR, just about anything this would require checking but the run of the mill should be fine as they are stock the engine is stock the engine gets nothing but stock input, If they start to go bad as I do further mods I have no way telling from my stock engine is that not true. Not being picky just like to understand. |

Mine appears to be close to an 11 so the 6 heat should be fine as I currently have the stock denso heat 5's.

cloud - yes heat 6 will be the safe option for you.
skippy - see above chipa - if yours is close to an 11, then you should stick with heat 5. if you went heat 6 then your plug would look closer to a 5 or 6...just food for thought |

chipa - 5 is the hottest plug. the higher the number (well on NGK's heat chart) the colder the plug. so 5 is quite a hot plug.
