whats the point then? please explain. (insert pauline hanson voice here.)
this has been done before, hardly stepping outside any boundaries... no getting outside of the wrong side of the bed, i'm nearly 30, i'm just turning into a grumpy old man. on a side note though about the subject, if i owned a white ba hatch, i'd love to paint the bonnet, roof and hatch black. black be useless on my grey/blue car. |

to do something i.ve wanted to for a couple years.. Paint on the roof amd bonnet are starting to fade, so this in turn require attention, so why not go a little jdm and be a little left field as well...
And i meant step out of my own boundaries

i'd say your car is too dark to really make it work. it won't stand out much.
i've been contemplating the black bonnet/root. that or GT stripes

hey everyone.
i have a quick question. what can i do to cut down understeer on my ba hatch. i have the following mods- 22mm rear sway bar, front and rear strut braces and bc adjustable coilovers? i did a track day today and understeer was slowing me down heaps. thanks pat |

A wee bit of negative camber may help as will some caster adjustments.

incease front tyre pressure
decrease rear tyre pressure increase front tyre width decrease rear tyre width decrease front tyre aspect ratio increase rear tyre aspect ratio wider front rim narrower rear rim more negative front camber more positive rear camber more positive front caster more toe out, front + rear softer front sway bar stiffer rear sway bar softer front springs stiffer rear springs softer front shocks stiffer rear shocks more front downforce less rear downforce more weight in the rear |

so run the 195/55R15s (15x6.5) on the rears, put 205/50R15 (15x7.0) on the fronts.
run a softer setting on your front damper/coilovers and about 1.5d front camber and about 0.5 rear camber. as a start. the rest will be testing for yourself, as every car is different. Last edited by project.r.racing; 20-10-2009 at 08:21 PM. |

thats pretty much what camber i am running. but yeah the tyres sound like a good idea as mine got pretty chewed up today. and the suspension was set slightly stiffer in the rear

Maybe an LSD will help as well, especially if accelerating through the corners??

i was gonna suggest that. but a f series lsd pops up once every 18 months or so on yahoo jp. so i didn't.
and yes it does make a world of difference in corner out speeds. but kills outer cv joints on the little f series shafts. |

NA6/BG8Z rear diffs may be the same. i'd need to see both next to eachother to confirm.
i knew a dude that used to make the "phanton style" ones living in carboolture. but haven't heard from him in years. i'm replacing my cv joint tomorrow, $39 for a new one. |

There is also the idea of technique.

cosmo is correct. driving style/technique plays a big part in it all. especially on a fast fwd car, as the mods get crazier for more speed. the rear end gets loosser, and the driver has to be able to drive it.
also simple pedal control (ie driving technique) to limit wheelspin and understeer. and cornering techniques and vechicle weight control also. |
