Not to steal ghettos thunder, today I swapped over alternator front casings which required careful use of a gear pulley thanks to rust... Removed rear subframe and tore it down for a quick clean. All ready to get new bushes tomorrow! Also cleaned front arms to keep chewys hands clean
Sorted out my 4 stud hubs to swap for 5 stud ones. Just need to sell an intake manifold or two, suspension and a few sets of tyres and I'll have some space! Ben hurry up and get these ku31s! Oh and some doors..and seats...

Megasquirt 2v3.0 pros: price $426 quoted all inclusive. Cons: limited tuners in oz.
Adaptronic mx5 pnp. Pros: easy tuning, dynoguys smile at you. Cons: $1300+ tuning. Anyone know a (good) dyno tuner willing to touch a selfbuilt megasquirt? Last edited by ghetto3; 22-03-2013 at 04:54 AM. |

Cos I have a crazy weird wired up pre 96 Astina, I've been looking at piggybacks like emanages to run mine. Yeah not a adjustable as others, but at least I can install and turn key and drive straight away.

Cmr wanted $1500 to tune haltech. Anthony at kaizen garage (his part-time business) has helped with wiring and will tube for 3-400...evens out the price of the initial purchase price...

$1500!!! Why would they need it on the dyno for 12 hours when supplied with a working base map?
3 hours / $360 would be the maximum I'd expect from a knowledgable tuner. |

hence the reason why I did what I did Ryan I going to get Anthony to come around, check the wiring, hook up the battery and get it started. then once it runs OK, take it for a drive over to his dyno @ capalaba (iirc he said $170/hr, 2 hours max).
In my case I dont want to blow up my 5K investment, if youve already got a working used motor, id be more inclined to fiddle and self tune. can't afford to do it twice, for the $500 it will cost to have it done properly. just stating what I was quoted for the tuning re. haltech.

plenum box would be a good idea. just to direct cooler air to the throttle. the air temps between the engine and firewall get nasty high.
how you going with this like vics disconnection and the TPS relocation etc? |

Throttle bodies have a 'D' shaft on either side for mounting options. Looking at using a Penny & Giles contactless tps supplied by Jenvey UK.
VICS i dont have. 97 head, P1 block to go under it. Shots are of test mount with original fuel rail still there. I will trust Jenveys' injector positioning upon install of new, original size injectors. Most decent ecus' will cater for tps alpha-n style tuning. Not the most accurate way but it works. Still hung up on ecu options though. There are some mad carbon airboxes made by ITG, pipircross and Jenvey. I was happy on test fit to see i had juuussst enough room to use one. In hoping the budget stretches far enough to acquire one. Im considering an exhuast cam mounted CAS setup from an early mx5 for crank position. That with tps and intake air temp sensor are all you really need for load indicators for speed density tuning in alpha-n Mode. Theres some decent comprehensive setups on the market now. Jenvey supply some neat little bungs to block original injector ports. Some fellas just use jbweld but yeah jenvey for me. If you head to their site www.jenvey.co.uk you can find everything you'd need: throttle linkage, idle air control, sensors etc. Best to order direct from them.
