Stainless steel screws I hope? Yes I know they're expensive but look awesome and won't rust together when you go to remove the lip, which one day, is likely.

Ryan, Yes indeedly do stainless steal screws. Went and bought them especially lol.. Had to get some big chunky ones/washers so it would have enough coverage to hold it up.
Thanks Lachlan, got it from this guy! $48 inc postage. Came in 2 days. Tell him Ben with the sp20 sent you, he might do a deal https://www.facebook.com/pages/Max-V...26906517359539 |

For the smurfy...
Lip already has dirt on it and smoshed bugs... The joys of living out bush. Also the wrinkles in it came back over night... Should come out today in the beautiful car park heat at work. Last edited by Ben; 02-06-2012 at 10:10 PM. |

So today was the start of my EPIC cleaning car journey.
Today i whipped out Ernie the gerny and bought a foam attachment. this thing is pure amazing. I was SUPER sceptical as it was so tiny, thinking "That won't do the whole car" but it does it JUST. It is possibly the best $19.95 i have ever spent. I seriously cannot get over how well it cleans it. With some foam, it was starting to run off. After: It doesn't even look like it needs a polish now. Thats how well it works. However, it still will be tomorrow. Stay tuned and see how $120 worth of polish and wax turns out. Nope, i got it from this guy.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Max-V...26906517359539 I've got many headlights/things from him. He is so helpful and postage literally comes the next day. The lip is fully flexible, its pretty much like a really thick rubber and you just mould it to the shape of your car. I screwed mine in with fat screws and washes, it will not budge. Double sided stickey tape wouldn't be strong enough, and if it is, it would fall off in the heat. The only problem ive found with this lip, it seems to shrivel up in the corners for some reason after awhile/ couple of washes. Easy fix though, just hit it with the heat gun. After 5 long hours. My car is now cleaner that when it rolled of the factory floor. (Not quite, but close) I bought a medium grade cutting pad, which didn't quite work too well for my bonnet. You can still see some light scratches etc. But, its MUCH better than before. The rest of the car is mirror finish.
Here's the tools. Meguiars swirl X Auto Glym high resin polish Mothers sealer and glaze wax Meguiars Plast X (For all the plastic) Orange medium grade cutting pad Black light buffing pad $89 buffer from autobarn. 4 micro fibre clothes. I started off using the orange pad using the Swirl X, this removed all the scratches etc from the clear coat. I then hit it with the Auto Glym high resin polish, for the shine! I gave the roof and bonnet extra attention as they are the ones that cop the heat/ road grime. After doing the whole car with swirl x and Auto, i attached the Black pad and hit it with the Mothers wax. Just to give it extra protection. Manual removal with the clothes. This is how it turned out. No scratches here. God damn we have a lot of crap in our shed. Also got around to installing my little antenna i got a good 3 months ago. I completely forgot about it, found it when cleaning up today! haha Also gave all the door seals a wax too and hit my front lip with the heat gun.. Again. Thanks man! Im extremely chuffed!
All up it cost $109 for the products and pads. $89 for the buffer itself (friend was going to lend me one, just bought one since i'll probably do it again one day) $19.95 for the snow foam lance. $10 for the snow foam + gerny, already had it though. Total $228... Plus 5 hours of my time. How much are details, dont know if it was worth my effort now i think about it lol |
