No worries. I chucked our tire dimensions into the tyre width calculator and my total diameter of rim is 18mm larger because of my larger sidewalls. The height of your car can vary it's not a guarantee, just a guide so perhaps if you put on the springs and shocks then adjust the amount of gap a little with your next set of tyres you could make sure it's perfect. But ride height is the hardest thing to get right so yes, good luck =)
My car was lower than this before and because i had softer springs i would scrape around town with a full car haha.

I'm 90% decided now LOL. Gonna get KYB shocks and Eibach springs. Though I might change my mind if anyone has any other opinions or if Wholesale Suspension has anything to say about it. Anyway should I be asking for KYB Excel G shocks or struts? And is there only one lowering height for Eibach Pro Kit springs for the BA? Also whats the difference between Eibach pro kit and Eibach sportline? I wanna put in an order tomorrow or Thursday so I can get my car done this Saturday.

What prices have you been quoted? Does your car have ABS?

I havent got a quote yet.
My car doesnt have ABS. Does anyone have specs or figures on the Eibach Pro Kit springs for my BA? I cant seem to find them anywhere. Not even on their site. Generally just interested in the spring rate and lowering height. |

Just got more detailed quotes.
$1620 for KYB Struts and Eibach Pro Kit springs, supplied, fitted and wheel aligned. (probably could knock the price down a bit). Apparently the Eibachs only give a 30mm drop. So about 25mm off my current sagged springs $360 for to install coilovers and wheel alignment, so itll be about $1760 for G4 coilovers, supplied, fitted and wheel aligned if I get the G4s from JustJap. Or I can go the cheapest way out. $1100 for the KYBs and King springs cuz theyre at trade price. 500 bucks more for Eibachs. Are they worth it? Or coilovers for only 600 more. Hmmmm, more undecided feelings now LOL. With the 500 buck difference I could potentially get the Kings and then buy a set of Eibachs afterwards. |

if you get coilovers, its worth installing yourself. save yourself $300. its really not that difficult. If i can do it anyone can

I guess so. Considering that it includes wheel alignment, thats the cheapest option. The guy is really pushing to sell the Kings I guess. He said since last year the quality and build of the springs have gotten heaps better. He also asked why I wanted to go Eibachs and said customers were having problems of some sort (didnt really catch what he said) when installing them on Mercedes and stuff.
I think i'll take a gamble with the KYB struts and King springs seeing as it would give me the height I want and at a cheap price. Im thinking of getting a Whiteline rear sway bar too to make up for handling (maybe?), unless he convinces me out of that too. If you had the choice between G4 coilovers and KYB struts and Eibach springs which would you guys choose? I'm thinking either go cheap or go all the way now. |

I've always wanted coilovers, and for sure the installation and labour would have been cheaper. But it's just a bit too hardcore for me, hence why i went for eibach's because i heard great things about their ride quality. I don't thrash the car every moment i get and when i'm cruising on a bad road it makes it bearable and feel like a newer car (any new suspension option will do this though), i just heard eibachs did it better.
In a way eibachs were the option of something more comfortable because my passengers (yes i know extra weight what am i doing!?) have to enjoy it as well otherwise. biased opinion yes, but that was my reason.

If that were the case i'd definately want the roughest ride, to get rid of people wanting me to drive them LOL.

Because he makes the same money on 2 pairs of kings as he does on the eibach kit, but without the freight of having to get the eibach's up from melbourne...

i have g4 coilovers and the ride quality is fine, it can be hard when going over super rough road obviously as any suspension would be, but the handling has been 2nd to none. I also don't have mine dumped on its arse, its about 1.5cm lower than stock. I've been in cars with kings/kyb setups and they simply don't compare to the g4 coilovers. as for eibach i have no idea.

As for ride height adjustment, you can always get sleeve kits later.

I'd say go the Koni/Eibach combo. It's a great handling/ride package - it's what i more or less what i had before i went JIC.

I think im gonna go KYBs and Kings and give it a go and if i dont like it, I hope someone out there wants to buy them off me LOL. And probably go for coilovers or something.
I really wanna get the Eibachs but when I look at the ride height, I just cant do it. It looks just a tad too high for my liking. I think a 2" drop would be perfect. I wouldnt mind going for a ride in someones car with any of these setups. Anyone in Sydney with these set ups? |

Called up wholesale suspension again today, ready to place an order and get it fitted this weekend but they were booked out so I guess I got more time to decide now. 2 weeks time that is. Cant do it this weekend cuz theyre booked out, next weekend is Australia Day, so it has to be the week after.
Anyway he told me I should go for Boge shocks instead of KYBs cuz theyre the same shock but just come in different boxes. Is this true? Cuz the Boge might be a bit cheaper and also offers lifetime warranty compared to the KYBs which only offer 2 year warranty |

As you can probably already tell, i'm pretty indecisive. Im actually thinking of getting coilovers again now (just changed my mind in those last couple of minutes after talking to some friends). Just wondering how hard it is to adjust the height of coilovers? Could I (with no practical mechanical knowledge) easily do it. I reckon i'd be adjusting the height once a week if it was easy, cuz I drive my car on alternate weeks. For the week i dont drive it, I park it at the back of my house which has a really really steep hill which I can climb up easily at the moment at stock height.
If it is too hard then i'll probably stick with the KYBs and Kings |
