not everyone is a mechanic or very skilled in mechanical things, mate... I'm sure that's why she did it this way, or she just feels this is good enough and CBF taking the thing off
but that's why we're all here to learn thanks to the internet and forums, enthusiasts around the world have learned to DIY things a lot easier/faster than the dark ages! really, I think what she did there is just fine for her purposes... would it have been easier to remove the part and paint off the car instead of having to mask off the area? sure... but does it matter now that it's done? NO
