Now BA Astina V6 Suspension .......

Now BA Astina V6 Suspension - are they **** ? cause ive lowered the car with kyb & custom springs with standard wheels 205x50x16 and bumpy as without low profile tyres, so with 35series tyres would be very bad.

Just wanna know what all you V6 BA Drivers think ? Bumpy As ?

Cause from all the car ive been in my BA makes the most noise over bumps, compared to Nissan Pulsars, Mitshbishi Lancer, Honda Accord, Honde Prelude, Mitshbishi Galant, Nissan Bluebird......

Honestly Like i said, just wanna know what you V6 BA Drivers think ? thanks
(Abit Upset Cause car looks good but not great on road)

custom springs = high kg/cm spring rate, that'll happen when you order them. when you get lowered springs, they make them stiffer so that the body roll is killed in cornering but ride comfort is destroyed also.

in saying that, i have one of the stiffest suspension in a astina in australia and i run mine on the hardest setting most of the time now. you get used to the bumps and stuff after a while. i used to think mine was crazy bumpy also when 1st installed

Yeahh, Bumpy

I thought something was wrong with my car (my first hardtop astina) after selling i decided to go again to astina hardtop, put better shock and springs and still the same, so i thought these astina wasnt all that great when made ! cause im comparing to a lot of other cars friends and family has driven in them and mine is the worst from all, and i got standard wheels that came with the car and they all have low profile, example
*Lexus e300 1992 with 20'' 35series tyres
*Misubishi Lancer GSR 1993 with 17'' 40series tyres
*Misubishi Galant 1993 with 18'' 40series tyres
*Nissan Pulsar SSS 1994 with 17'' 40series tyres
*Nissan Bluebird Attessa 1994 with 17'' 40series tyres
*Honda Prelude 1993 with 19'' with 35series tyres

All of those car even with alot lower profile have a better ride than my car - i just find it wierd the astina being a nice looking car and what it was worth when it was fist released is not all that in suspension, even with stock wheels and springs (in other words standard) its still bumpy.

Well anyways, that one thing that im very disapointed with that car (1994-1998 V6 Astina) not to sure about the 4cyl.

I have KYB Shocks front & rear (new)
Custom springs from a place called Universal Springs, lowered 1.5 from and 2'' back. And the guy who customized the springs for me did them all from Mazda Original BA Astina V6 Sheet Spec's, took 3 days to make.

Now if they installed the springs wrong way would that effect it alot ? But im not sure if they did install it wrong way, the mechanic say its the right way ?? so im taking his words for it .

Depending on what you're coming from, just the KYB's alone will make it slightly bumpier, as they tend to be valved a little harder than say monroes... Its probably more likely the springs... As a custom job you'll never know, but there has to be a reason why the rear was marked as progressive in both the dobinson and oem book... mmm... if the rears are too stiff that will make it feel bumpy...

Personally i would have never gone with custom springs... there's enough option on the market to go with the tried and trusted... Dobinson, Eibach, or even *shudder* kings...

i cant see him making them to the standard specs, it would be way too soft being lowered that much. KYBs will make is stiffer, but a greg said, it's more likely the springs. and its no good comparing it to other cars as they have different suspension combos.

what are the spring rates for the new springs?

if its noises you are worried about, one possibilty is that the coils at the rear are touching each other, if so it will give you a nice clunk. I know mine did until i got some coil wrap.

BAs don't have a whole lot of travel at the front anyway, and you've just taken a couple of inches out. It's not going to be fabulous - especially with 18's

my ba v6 was pretty hard and bumpy with standard springs in it, then i put lowered king springs in it and its an even harsher ride.. but i'm kinda used to it now, probably cause it was fairly hard to begin with. and that is on standard v6 mags and 205/55 16 tyres.

i just drive the coon car if i want comfort, and the mazda for fun..
