13" Rims

Hey all, i need a set of 13" rims for my race tyres, i have started competing at club level and need the extra grip.

Primo, ive heard you seem to collect a few rims? Got any 13" ?

Or, can anyone tell me what 13" rims will fit my BG astina ? It doesnt matter if they are "stocky's or Steely's"

Thanks

dane

Try Rx-2,3,4, RWD 323, RWD 626 and Series I and II Rx-7 use 13" rims and some are even alloys and as a bonus some have MAZDA written across the centre cap. Drop round to the wreckers at lunch time and see what they have to offer.
Also Ford Cortina and Escort rims will fit the Mazda but the Mazda won't fit the Ford. :?

13" for race tyres, any reason? Would you not be better off with a set of 14" or 15" wider rims with better tyres?

Large diameter rims are largely for looks, sure there is a difference in handling but 18"s on a BA you don't know when you have a flat so altering the tyre pressures to suit track conditions won't achieve much.
If you look at the major racing codes F1, C.A.R.T. V8 Supercars, BTCC and most open wheeler categories they have tyres with tall side walls. I play with preasures for Motorkhana, it's the easiest and best tool. It's a bitch to pump 'em up to 50psi

Yeah, the reason for wanting 13" rims is for the exact reason Cosmo said, adjustment of the tyre pressure and the relative "feel" when a change in pressure is made is alot easier to distuinguish with a lower ration rim.Plus, im buying racing tyres, and for a 13" rim they are alot cheaper!

I have just hooked up a deal to buy formula ford racing tyres ( avon 13t's) for a really good price.

Will let everyone know how i go!

Smaller wheels also build torque quicker. Bigger wheels seem to hold torque longer.

Saw this on a few dyno sheets at the workshop
