how low?

hey all, i need a little help here, i have a BA astina but i don't know how much i should lower it, i have a full 'sports ryder' suspension kit from pedders and it is lowered about 1 or 1.5 inches already but i want it lower, but the problem is that i still want it to be driveable and not scrape on every single bump in the road. i need help from all the ba drivers out there, how low is your car and does it scrape much?
many thanx dc

go 2" with whiteline or Kmac. steer clear of pedders i reckon. ive got an addon front lip on my BA which i scrape oucasionally and fairly chunky sideskirts which never hit anything. Youll have no dramas at all if you just have stock panels

cheers mike

once you start going beyond 1-1.5 inches, you'll probably have to think about new shock absorbers.

unless you got sports ryder shocks with your pedders stuff, then they shoucl cope with the reduced travel better than stock ones, and last a bit longer

I can vouch for Whiteline.. those springs lowered my car around 50-60mm and it still rides remarkably well. I also have Koni dampers..

www.whiteline.com.au and if you need to contact them I have dealt with Wayne Cunningham [wayne@whiteline.com.au] in the past and he was fantastic.

Adam

I find these questions so funny. You want good ride and 2.5 inches
lowered and no scraping. You know thats a "Dream On" question but it
gets asked anyway Anything around 2-3" lowered will be firmer and
more bumpy and the occasional scrape if not careful. Whether you can
handle it is a personal thing everybody has there own level of forgoing
comfort for looks the answer is to ride in someones car that is close to
your desired height and see if you could put up with it. If there was some
magical brand that gave great ride and lowered and cheap etc we would
all have em and it would be obviously plastered all over the forums.
No picking on you DC, just you and the million others before you that
asked the same question.

BigMal- i neva said anything about a good ride.... i kno that it'll pretty much make it bumpy as, i'll get ova it. i just wanted to kno what other people had done to their ba's and how they found it.

Nate- wish i could go for the bags option but unfortunately i don't think my bank account would allow for it

LOL get over it...

I used to have my astina 4" low at the front, it looked great but was way too bumpy. Then I lifted it to 3" and it was bearable but then I smashed a diff on a bumpy road cause the driveshafts banged the diff pin.

2.5" is as low as I would go for looks as it is a comprimise. Make sure you cut the bump stops or buy shorter new units.

4" Low with 18's

2.5" Low with 18's

Hi mate..

Further to the thing that i posted earlier.. I would recommend that you stay away from Jumbo's Springs.. If someone tries to sell you them, wrap them around their necks as that's all they're good for. They're too hard and too short for normal everyday use..

Regards
Adam

i have my v6 lowered with the lowest king springs i could buy, i personly dont think it went low enough but ive never scrapped on anything and i dont do the stoopid go over speed bumps at an angle thning(looks at commo drivers with std cars thinking there low)
just the ride on bad roads gets a bit annoying after a while, but thats the price you have to pay for a kewl looking car

i lowered mine for performance... i don't care what it looks like form the outside, i see the inside

the eibachs i used are awesome, btu expensive - ride is quite comfortable, and really hardens up under load as they are a progressive - but thats my BJ, not a BA

The Batmobile sits about 60mm lower to the ground thanks to JIC progressive rate coilovers. Ride is pretty smooth (even with Whiteline bracing and poly bushes). It takes a little while to know what you can get over and how to drive it but I have only scrubbed the guards on a few occasions. And that was during some hard cornering on bad roads.
All said and done I wont be changing the set up.........I love it!!!!!!!

Lowering will limit you in some regards,

Hey I scrape in my UNtouched Suspension BA, only when pulling in and out of driveways so be sensible,

If you are willing to take the long way round to have a car that gets eyes do it, but if you drive in the city and drive like me (the wrong way all the bloddy time, resulting in U turns in driveways etc a plenty) wouldn't go to low,

Also think of your kit if you have one, if it sticks forward and lower you will have a terrible time if not well you wouldn't,

Night yallllllllll

Soooo stoked I ow have an avatar.
