I hardly ever need to go through any roundabouts so cant really compare. But it sounds as though your car is understeering and it's scrubbing that outside tyre.

Yep, sure is. For some reason, it's a bit harder to get the back out with the new tyres/wheels. Used to sit more nuetral round long bends, now it needs a more aggressive lift off to enter and then it still doesn't want to settle into 4 wheel slide like it used to. But it is a bit quicker now and will hold a higher corner speed.

I found I had similar when I went from Goodyear Eagle F1's to my current Toyo Proxes 4 (this is my 17's)
the F1s had reinforced sidewalls, very stiff sidewalls, and they allowed the rear to step out a fair bit on liftoff or trailbraking. I then went to the Toyo Proxes4, which dont have reinfroced sidewalls, and the car has more grip, and less tendancy to oversteer unless really provoked. what tyres did you have before the RE001s? they may have been a harder compound, stiffer sidewall (even though the RE001 has a very stiff sidewall).

Used to have Bridgestone GIII 195/60 R14. I can't remember at what point I installed the front and rear strut tower braces and front lower tie brace, which seemed to result in more power understeer, so that's probably part of the problem, but I just can't remember the order of installation.
Anyway, the GIIIs were definately quieter when pushed, but had exactly the same driver/roundabout induced outside front left wear issue. Take it for a fang up the Gillies range (200 corners of tyre destroying fun with the 80k speed limit being plenty fast enough for a good time!) and the wear is more symmetrical. |

To revive a thread - my front tyres (205/45/R16) are due to be replaced, and for all the discussion in this thread, there doesn't seem to be a major consensus. Having read a few reviews (like this one) I'm leaning toward Kumho SPT KU31s. What do you guys reckon?

Got a set of Toyo R1R 205/50 R15 on RPF1 15x7. Fits nicely and easily outperforms the Adrenalins I had (so they should with treadwear rating of 140!). Wet or dry, go, corner, stop, really good grip everywhere. eg a particular corner max speed in the wet was 50kph with Adrenalin, 58kph R1R. Only downside is they get torn up quickly, being so soft.
