18' Wheels

Hey guys,

I'm picking up my 18' wheels tomorrow and I just need to check the offset. They are 18x7.5 wheels - can anyone tell me the correct offset? Also will they affect my speedo?

Thanks!

Sal

sal, check out the protege5.com forum. look in the wheels forum and there is a wheel fitment guide. that'll tell you what offset.

also, with 18's your tyres need to be 205/35/18 (perfect - no tyres though), 215/35/18 slightly bigger (available)

According to the guide you'll need an offset of 48mm or higher.

48MM offset and a 7.5" wide rim would hit the strut wouldnt it?

Hmm I see. Damn it. :x So anything lower won't fit either - i think there is 35 offset as well. But I like these wheels.

I went to Keith for Wheels and Ozzy Tyres. I went to that black building in aspley (won't mention names for defamation reasons) but walked out after the manager was rude as to me.

yeah i'd never go to the unnamed place

if there is no way you can get your money back for the wheels, see if they can take 3mm off the wheen hub area to make it 48 offset

Bummer about the wheels you liked Supergirl - that's really crap that they'll do that to you. :x

Of course we require pics once you get some nice ones that fit! 8)

Give them a call and express your concern, if their book tells them they will fit then the'll probably only believe it when they see it (regardless of the customers age or gender). You're probably going to have to go through the motions to find a suitable solution. :?

you sure that it has to be higher than +48 ??? most aftermarket rims are only +35 to +45

Thats extrememely high. I cant see why +45 wouldnt fit? it would maybe rub the guards a tad. if so you roll your guards which is probably a good idea anyway.

I did a quick test on bigwheels.net and it says

Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3 (5x4.5); Offset: 42 to 50mm; Rims: up to 18x7.5

which seems a bit more like it.

well hey, you can always get them to fit 'em..

when it turns out they rub, you have it that they said they fit, therefore, they need to look into the fixes, to keep everything nice...

get it in writing (even if a small note on receipt) from them, that they said they will be fine...

it will be up to them to either roll the guards, replace the worn through tires, and fix any paint work thats stuffed, or in the end give you the money back, and repair any damage done to your car by the tires... (three R's of consumer redress)

if your not lowered as we speak, mention your going to lower the car

if you lower it i promise you'll get rubbing

but like i said if you really want the wheels they might be able to machine the part of the wheel that connects to the hub to make it 48mm offset
