Gre youve been hanging around the twig and the bat for too long
And Ryan:
Try and hit a corner a bit unstable now and power out and you will see what the rear sway is doing

i think the rear strut brace did alot to hide what the rear sway bar was doing.

coilovers adjusted to matching heights also

i drove to hervey bay and back on the hardest setting and the car got airbourne a few times on the highway, only for a 1/10th of a secong as revs jumped 3000rpm at times instantly.

but ride was fine, was extremely bumpy and my drivers side light went off 3 times also, bumpy movement loosened the loom from the blub!!! silly things.

harder setting is way better for traction/turning/etc. once you been running on the hardest setting for a week, you don't even realize you are running on coilovers when on the softest settings.

removing the rear strut brace causes massive over steer that is extremely fun, but kills alot of corner speed. so now after having the full suspension for months i can control the car by removing or replacing the rear strut brace.

having the rear strut brace in makes the rear fell glued to the ground but does cause big understeer if not driven properly. some scary moments have been had.

JICs out... D2s in

3kg lighter, firmer but smoother. rear camber adjustable strut top also. inverted model for better shock stroke.

Really??? The centre shaft doesn't look big enough to be inverted...

Either way, very nice!

greg:-
dunno about weights - but the D2s weigh just under 20kg, JICs weight was just under 23kg. yeah they are inverted, you don't adjust the height with the springs.

dave:-
you know you want a set

Bringing back a way old thread but i'm coming back to the stage where i'm looking to upgrade my suspension soon too. Just wondering how the pricing of coilovers compare to new shocks and springs these days. Lets say compare D2 coilovers with Koni shocks and Eibach springs.

Also what other brands of coilover options do I have besides D2 and Tien for my BA Astina Hatch.

And also what other brands of shocks can I get that will perform well.

And I also got a noob question which i'm kinda confused about. What is a strut? Im assuming I need them in combination with springs and shocks but no one seems to be interested in replacing these (correct me if im wrong). And would I need struts if i get coilovers?

The Koni/Eibach Combo will be MILES ahead of the D2 stuff in terms of performance. The ONLY advantage of the D2 over that would be height adjustment... FWIW.

Maybe DMS, but be prepared to pay big dollars. DMS will be far and away the best coilover suspension you'll get for the street.

On a budget, KYB.

Strut is just the term for a shock that holds the spring and hub in place aswell... roughly. Or some strut are a unit that a shock inserts sits into.

A coilover is a strut.

I see. So how about pricing? What are good prices for these kinds of parts and also labour cuz i'm looking at heading to wholesalesuspension at Blacktown this weekend to get some and advice and probably make an order if they dont have stuff on hand. Most likely gonna tell them to install it and everything unless someone else can recommend another place to go to.
