Miki's Astina Cruise - Possibly the Last One

Hey all,

That's right, this may be my last astina cruise because im selling the old girl. I have bought a 97 Prelude and the astina is unfortunatelly up for grabs.

For those of you that know me, you will know that i like nothing more than going through some winding hill roads as fast as i possibly can, and for those who don't well this is a good oppartunity to come out and meet me and the rest of the group and join in on the fun as well as see my astina before i hopefully sell it.

Here's the brief details, Sunday night/evening 25th of november meet on Hachey Rd, outside the botanical gardens. We'll head up to Loberthal via Magill/Loberthol Rd then I guess we'll just wing it unless i come up with something by then. I have bought a tiptronic Auto hence this may be my last manual spin for a while hence I will not be holding back.

Anyone interested please post here or PM me and I will provide you with more info as I get it and ill provide you with a number to contact me on in case anyone is unclear about something.

Lets make this one a good one. Even though it is a bit short notice.

Cheers,
Miki

Got some boys with Preludes coming (preludeaustralia.com) seem like a nice bunch.

Would be interesting to see how my astina holds up against a prelude.

my old and much lowed vs my new , meh car.

I hope the astina is better simply because I don't like my Lude being auto.

Manual always wins, right?

Precisely. Astina might get close, but ultimately a Prelude will probably tromp it. Still, Astinas are incredible for what they are.

I can make the 2nd I think. Maybe this Sunday, possibly... Sorry to be so iffy but it's that time of year in yr12.

don't be a f***ing uni kid. They are always like that. Oh no I gotta study etc etc. Just come. It should be good.

Just kiddin, if you can't make it thats cool, but if you do it should be good.

Astina will get tromped you say? I think not!!!

Ill show them what the astina is made off. mind you the Lude brakes are heaps bigger and better, and the power is pretty damn noticable too. Oh well, the astina has spirit, and lots of it. As well as a maniac behind the wheel.

It ain't that I'll be studying, its the opposite. I got an exam Monday, and party tommorow and Sat, Sunday is my only oppurtunity to study. The 2nd should be fine. I'm just not locking in on a 100% definate in case I go away at that time. Group of mates and I are planning a road trip but as yet, theres no date. Highly doubt it'll be then but, it might be.

I shall do my level best to attend, Sir Maniac.

Haha, absoloutely. I've never had more fun than the couple trips I've done this year with mates.

We're probably going to a mates shack on the Yorke Peninsula, or driving down south and camping on the Coorong and sailing etc. Also driving to Melbourne to see rellies early next year. Should be a good test for the Stina'.

My astina didn't like me on the open road. Probably coz i couldn't stick to the 100km/h speed limit. Hence the revs set around 4,300 or someting. You do the math, anyways i don't think it liked me for that.

Got a ride in my mates newly imported RX-7 yesterday and...

OH - MY - GOD - that thing flies. It's a heavily modified Spirit R and he paid $50,000! It's less than 30,000kms and pimped to the absoloute max. It just re-kindled my love for turbos. Had very small amounts of turbo lag and 0-100 was demolished in seconds. And the noiiiisseee!!!

Well that's my spill! On the downside, I was driing into the city just now and by some co-incidence turned onto Oaklands road next to him. Had a convo at the next lights and it turns out his car was defected last night, on his first real cruise in it! Ridiculous cops. He was thoroughly devostated.

meh, bottomed out in heaps of places. its weird coz its stiff and bouces around sh**load. You take a corner hit a bump or go over uneven ground and you end up elsewhere.

I went fast but it was not too stable and the back was very wiggly. Tires screeched heaps, for some reason they were stressing heaps through almost every bend.

No comparison to the astina. It nearly sh** itself, when i pulled over in loby, the coolant was a bit bubbly and coming out of the overflow. NOT HAPPY!!!. the gage was showing normal temp, explain that.

Not as easy to manouver. Although the brakes are amazing, that i was impressed with. Overall it was better than i actually expected, the tiptronic is smooth once you get the hang of it but its no astina, thats for sure.

I let him go first and then i looked for spots to overtake. I had more pace than he did but it didn't like the bumpyness and the tires hated the stress they were under. Its not slow, but it isn't on rails. there is lot more work to keep it in line and the back was wiggly.

The shocks are fine, just not a very good setup for the hill roads and the coolant would've been a bit too full, coz i never had trouble prior or after that, and the gauge never moves past the middle.
