sweet lookin ride... and welcome,
just wonderin if anyone else has had to replace the clutch on their V6's??? it was the first thing i had to do to mine when i got it last year (1995 Hatch 50,000 miles)... now the bloody CV joints have gone...i hate irish roads, they kill cars quick  has anyone else with a V6 ever noticed a really bad ticking sound coming from the engine, appears to be getting worse and sounds suspiciously, ominously like a cam problem :O ...perhaps i got the only dodgy V6 hatch ever made *[/colorost_uid0]

My mates dad helped me tow my car back to his place with his XR6 today, so it isnt sitting on the side of the road screaming "BREAK INTO ME!!" and "TAKE MY MAGS!!" lol
Also his friend is gonna do the clutch for me for $400nz including parts and labour!! So its not what you know, its who you know... I'm also interested in the difference between a Type R/X/S lantis, does anyone know?[/colorost_uid0]

Hey CHUKY. i had the same ticking noise once b4 too, it seemed to be related to not having much oil in the engine... i filled it up with some decent oil (i'm using Shell Ultra, anyone know anything better???) and it stoped and now is running sooo smooooth would anyone like to enlighten me as to why my engine goes though soo much oil? i find i'm filling it up once a month... there's no oil on my driveway... so i don't think there's a leak... i do like to change gears late (around 6000 RPM) that got anything to do with it???
the other brad...[/colorost_uid0]

i'll certainly give that a try... the guy i got to "clean" up the car had a mx-3 1.8 V6 in at the same time and commented that the owner had to replace the oil every 4,000 miles because it sounded very "Tappety" otherwise... so i was wondering about that too,,, i can only give it a try i guess ut the suggestion is appreciated none the less...
as for y does it use so much oil... try this some time... stand behind ur car and get somone to start it from cold... then get them to to rev to about 4,000 + rpm... hold a white sheet or something similar about a foot behind the exhaust.... black spatters on the sheet???... dont know if its carbon deposit or oil traces ut it could be that until the engine warms up that there is a little oil getting past the pistons and into the exhaust... just a theory and probably a bit dodgy... again, my engine block doesnt appear to be leaking...[/colorost_uid0]

Hey MrPayner, I dont have anymore pics yet... My car is getting a new clutch (which seems to be taking AGES) and my digital camera is at my mates house... I'll take some fresh pics once I have my car and camera back.
Hey BigMal, I have looked all over the net for bodykits for Lantis's and Astina's in NZ, but there is nothing! The best i have been able to come up with is a completly custom kit for about $3000nz There are quite a few second hand parts at most wreckers for my car because of all the imports over here, but there are very little performance aftermarket things for lantis's and astina's unfortunatly... I made my own cold air intake with 3" steel exhaust, rubber connectors a pod filter and engine paint. Seems to work really well![/colorost_uid0]

Thanks,
I saw a thread on another forum of a Astina with a yoursports front bumper for sale in NZ and I wouldn't mind one. Except I don't want to pay $1000 to get it from japan. Was hoping someone may be selling them there. Thanks anyway Regards Mal[/colorost_uid1]
